A week of Seventeen Reviews | Skin WOW Primer/Highlight!

Hello Everyone!

This is the last one! The last review in my Week of Seventeen reviews! Today I'm talking about the Skin Wow Highlight/Primer. On Monday I reviewed the Flawless Poreless Primer and on Wednesday I reviewed the Phwoarr Paint Concealer.

This is a liquid highlight, of which I have quite a few. I don't know why I continue to buy highlighters because they're not something I reach for a lot. I just like how pretty they look in the tubes. I have used this a few times however to see how it performs on the skin. It's supposed to be a 3 way highlight, you can use it as a primer, mixed in with your foundation and just dotted around the face where you usually would highlight.

I'm not going to be talking about how it performs as a primer because I haven't tried that yet and I very much doubt that I will. I just can't see it being a great look all over your face. My method was just just pump out a bit on my hand and apply it on my cheek bones, down my nose, on my chin and under my eyebrow as a highlight. There are so many things you could do with this though, you could use it all over your skin as a body highlight you could use it on the inner corner of your eyes or as an eyeshadow base or even add it to eyeshadow pigments for a little extra shimmer. These kind of products are so diverse. I love it!

I think this creates a nice frosty shimmer, great for the winter. I usually like to use a more golden toned highlight in the summer but this is a nice change for the cold months! You do have to apply it quite thickly to see it in my experience, it seemed to quickly absorb in to my skin, probably because it's quite liquidy. But it can create a nice subtle effect or you could really apply a lot for something more dramatic. You can create a more lively complexion with this and add some definition especially if you're someone who likes to do a lot of contouring, this would be nice for the lighter contouring. Another of my favourite highlights is the MAC loose powder highlight in silver dusk. It is one of the most beautiful items of makeup I own! You can see pictures and a review HERE.

One reason I really like this product is because it's more of a sheen than a full on glitter. Which is why it's so different to the MAC one I mentioned above. You're not going to find huge flecks of glitter in this, it's just a very subtle shimmer.

I think this is a really nice highlight, I don't think there's anything special about it being a '3 way highlight' because you could use any highlight you own in them ways so I wouldn't write home about that. I like the frosty shimmer it has and I like that it's buildable and has multiple uses. As far as the 'primer' is concerned I can't give you a really review on that because I haven't used it in that manner yet. Has anyone else? I just don't think it would make a very good primer and I fear that it'd make you look really oily. I might give it a go one day and let you know what I think.

I also thoroughly enjoy that it comes with a pump! In my world, everything would come in a pump hahah. Overall, this product does what it says on the can, it's a nice starter highlight because you can't go wrong with it, if you make a mistake you can blend it away easily enough and it's buildable. If you have quite a few highlights in your collection I don't think you'd put this to a whole lot of use, you might even already have something very similar and there's plenty of alternatives out there!

You get a generous amount of product in the bottle, 30ml for £5.99.

Hope that was helpful to you!
See you next time,
Leanne x

  1. I've used it as a primer and as a 36 year old woman on a budget but with tired dry skin Its been brilliant. I am going through surgical menopause so my skin can look quite dull, under my foundation it gives my skin the boost it needs and has definitely made my high street Rimmel foundation look more high end :-)

    1. Thank you for this comment! It's very enlightening and reminded me that I actually own the product haha! I'm actually quite fond of a glow myself these days so I must give it a try under my foundation :) x
