Beauty Wishlist!

Hello everyone!

There are a vast amount of things I have my eye on at the moment beauty wise. Superdrug have a few offers on at the moment and I'm tempted to go shopping and just buy the things I want! I have a bad habit of sitting on my laptop adding things to my basket on websites then never actually buying them. Mainly because I don't like waiting for things to arrive, I'd much rather just go out and buy them! So here are a few things I have my eye on at the moment!

After using my 2 colour tattoos I mentioned a few posts ago, I'd really like to get some more! I'd like to try Eternal Gold and Permanent Taupe. I've loved the ones I already have so I know these won't be a wasteful buy. I'm also very interested in the Maybelline BB Cream I've seen others wearing them and they look gorgeous. I'd also like to try one of the GOSH lipliners and Multi Coloured blushers as they also look very pretty! Also, MaxFactor have a new 'Whipped' foundation out and it's on a promotional offer of £7.99 at the moment and I really want to try it. I tried it on my hand a few days ago and it felt so lovely and when I got home I regretted not picking it up.

Lip products really never used to tickle my pickle. I was much more interested in buying loads of eyeshadows thinking that was the most convenient way to put a pop of colour on my face. Recently though I've been increasing my lip product collection as I have a new found love for bright lips!

I've heard good things about the Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tars and I'm desperate to try one. I'm in love with the colour of the 'Harlot' shade, it's beautiful. Summer may be coming to an end (boo) but that will not stop me from using this gem.

They're £11.50 which I don't think is too bad considering MAC lipsticks are £14.00 and these are a lot more concentrated and last longer!

My sister and I are planning on going to Manchester shopping on Monday so I have a feeling some of these will be bought then...
What's on your wish list?

Makeup of the Day!

Hello Everyone!

Today I had a little bit more time to play with makeup than I usually do so I had the opportunity to play about with a few different things! I'm really happy with the way my makeup turned out so I thought I'd show you what I used!

In order of use:

Avon Magix Face Perfecter. I used this as my primer and I have some dry skin happening on my jaw line and this help smooth over that area.

MaxFactor CC Cream Foundation. This replaced the Weightless Foundation and as far as I can tell it's the same thing just with a different name. I use it all the time because it's light enough for my skin and has very good staying power.

Benefit Boi-ing Concealer. I used this under my eyes and around my nose. It's very thick and covers blemishes and redness really well. I use it sparingly around my eyes due to it's thickness. I do wish it was a little bit lighter though, I have shade 1 and it's a tad darker than my foundation. It doesn't look ridiculous but a tiny bit lighter would have been nice.

ELF All Over Cover Stick in Pink Lemonade. I put this on before powder as my blush. I've had this product for over a year and never use it and I have to say it hasn't dried out or gone funny at all which is impressive for something that costs about £1.50.

Rimmel Stay Matte. I applied a light cover of this all over my face. I don't really have oily skin so I don't really have to use it but I just feel unfinished if I don't.

ILAH Brow Powder. I've been using this since January, I love it!

Stila in the Light. I used the shade Bare all over my lid, right up to the eyebrow to give my eyes an even matte finish.

Then, I used the Brown eyeliner that comes in the Stila palette above my lash line as a change from liquid eyeliner. I have to say the eyeliner goes on so smoothly and it's a gorgeous colour but I'll probably be sticking to liquid eyeliner in the future for ease of application! I find pencil eyeliner too time consuming on the top lash line.

MaxFactor False Lash Effect Mascara (missed it out of the picture! Sorry) I love this mascara, I have done since I very first used it. I have two reviews on it HERE and HERE

Barry M Waterproof Eyeliner. I need to buy this in not waterproof because it takes too long to get off. Having said that this is such a nice eyeliner to use. It's soft and creamy, it doesn't drag across your eyes and it lasts pretty well too for something on your waterline. I used it right on the outer corner to just before the middle just to darken the outer edge.

MUA Lipgloss in Shade 2. This is quite nice, it doesn't give off any colour so it works well for a neutral look. Nothing too special. It's not overly sticky on the lips but if it's windy out your hair is going to be sticking to it!

And that't it!

See you next time.

Beauty & Storage Haul!

Hello everyone!

Over the last few days I've picked some bits and pieces that I've wanted for a while, some things are beauty related and others are storage related and I thought they'd be interesting to share so let's get cracking!

First of all I picked up a few beauty bits, I have a list on my phone of all the things I'm interested in picking up and these have been on it for a while!

I finally managed to find Soap & Glory's Peaches and Clean in Boots. I've been looking for ages and never found it but I think it may have been taken off the shelves for repackaging. I've used it a few times and although I think it's really nice I can see where people are coming from when they say it's not good for their skin. It's quite strong and it does tingle on the skin so I don't leave it on too long. Also, the scent is different to how I imagined. I thought it was going to be really fruity and peachy but it's not at all. There's a slight peach scent but I find it has a very chemical scent, it reminds me of medicine.
I think since it's been repackaged it may have gone up in price too, it's £8.00 now and I think it used to be about £7.00.

Maybelline Baby Lips! Everyone in the Blogging/YouTube world goes crazy over these so now that we have them in England I thought I definitely had to have one too... Well I needed a new lip balm anyway, plus Maybelline had a 2 for 3 offer on so I basically got it for free. Woo hoo! I got the mint one because it's green and I like mint! I've been using it over the last few days and I think it's quite nice, it has a cooling sensation when you put it on but I don't think I have baby lips yet...

Lastly beauty wise I bought 2 Colour Tattoos! I have the shades On and on Bronze and Pink Gold. I wanted a beige colour but it was out of stock unfortunately. I never really wear pink eyeshadow either so I'm looking forward to seeing how Pink Gold fairs.

I haven't worn then yet but I'm really hoping they don't crease throughout the day as cream shadows usually do. I'll write a separate post when I've used them for a while and let you know how I get on with them!

Next, I saw a few things in Ikea that I thought I'd get some good use out of!

First, I picked up these Moppe draws. They were £9 and they come in a few different designs. I settled for these because I didn't want anything bigger really and if I run out of room I can just buy another one and stack it on top. They look a bit plain-jane, which in all fairness they are. They are made of untreated wood so you can varnish them or paint them, what ever you want to do. I think I'm going to leave mine as they are because I think they look quite good and I love the scent! :D

So I'm really hoping I won't need much more makeup storage until I move out of my parent's house and I'll have a lot more room!

Last but not least I bought a floating shelf for this year's uni books. I ran out of room on my other book shelf and the place where all the rest of my books are stored doesn't have any room either so I just bought the bloody shelf. It was only £10 and it went up within 10mins thanks to Tom and my Dad and I soon found many other things to clutter it too! What do you think?

So that's everything I've been buying recently!

Delicious Cookies! | Leanne's Kitchen

Hello everyone!

Yesterday I bought the ingredients to make some cookies! I've made them before but they went a bit wrong and I basically ended up with one huge tray of cookie. This time they worked out a lot better!

There's not much to this method which adds to it's appeal if you ask me. I try to cook (on occasion) and fail the majority of the time. It's a good job Tom's an ex chef. lol.

You'll Need:
Mixing Bowl
100g Brown Sugar
125g Caster Sugar
225g Self Raising Flour
125g Butter (softened)
1 egg (beaten lightly)
1tsp Vanilla Extract
200g Chocolate Chips (or however many you like)

(I actually halved the ingredients and still made 8 cookies)

Add all the sugar, flour and chocolate together. I used Galaxy Counters and broken up Milky bar.

Add the egg, vanilla extract, butter and mix thoroughly to a doughy consistency!

Maybe use some gloves if you want (I did) to separate them to even balls..... lol.
I had to make them on pizza trays because we don't have a single decent baking tray in the house but use whatever works best for you! Whip them in the oven and just keep checking on them. I think mine took about 15mins because they're quite thick but I took them out when the edges were turning golden but the middle was still kinda gooey.

And hey presto!
Told you there wasn't much to it!

Hope you enjoyed this post!

True Blood Season 6! ***Spoilers***

Hello everyone!

Before I go any further if you haven't yet seen True Blood Season 6 or any particular episode, stop reading now!

Who else has been watching season 6 of True Blood?! I've just finished watching episode 10 and I can't believe it's over! I'm so sad that it's finished. It definitely doesn't seem like 10 weeks ago when it started. I think it's been a really good season all round with plenty of surprises along the way. Let me know what your thoughts on this season are!

One of the biggest shocks for me was Terry's death. I LOVED Terry, he was quickly becoming one of my favourite characters and now he's gone! I felt so sorry for Arlene and annoyed that he actually went through with the 'suicide', I really didn't think he would and I didn't think they'd write his character out. It's so sad. :( But I thought his funeral was portrayed so well and I was pleased to see some parts of his life that we wouldn't have seen otherwise e.g. when he first met Arlene. Another shock was Eric, I found his sun bathing in the snow in Sweden hilarious but what has happened to him? I didn't get it when he burst in to flames did he actually die or will he be in the next season? To be honest, I'm fairly confident that he will be, they wouldn't write out such a main character surely?

Another thing that weirded me out in this season was how quickly Sam moved on from Luna to Nicole! It was only about two days! I couldn't believe it but I'm glad that he's with some one because I think he deserves it and as much as I like Sookie I'd be lying if I said I wasn't pleased when he told her where to go.

My favourite characters this season would be Pam, I think she's hilarious. I like Adilyn, she wasn't featured a lot but I think she's a great new character and I hope they give her a big story line next season! I also think that she's given us the chance to see a different side to Andy, he's been such an entertaining character this season. I also love Jessica but I've always loved Jessica since she was turned in to a vampire many seasons ago! Did anyone miss Hoyt this season? I thought I'd really miss him when he left but I really didn't which is strange. Bilith peed me off immensely in season 5 and continued to throughout the whole of season 6 even when he lost his powers he was still being a k""b. And I can't believe Warlow either after all the fear and trying to kill him then he turned nice and Sookie agreed to marry him and let him turn her then he just went mental again! I can't believe we all fell in to the trap of believing he was pretty nice (well I did, I don't know about anyone else ahha).

A character who I kind of hate but couldn't help find hilarious, probably just out of disbelieve, is Sarah. She is a twisted woman. But whenever she did something crazy like cover up Truman's death then go on about how close she is to God it just made me laugh, she's crazy. *Praise his light* I hope that next season they do something about Violet who seems to have 'claimed' Jason but if I'm honest I have a feeling something's going to happen with her I think we'll be seeing a bit more of her next season which I'm not relishing, she's so annoying!

Also the whole of the 'Six months later' thing was so surreal. I thought it was some kind of dream or something because it all seemed so unreal. Sookie must be with Alcide now which, I admit, they were kind of playing on when he turned up at the funeral but I really didn't expect it. And the whole 'everyone choose a vampire' thing was just so unusual.

AND does anyone else have a nasty feeling that Lettie was infected with the Hep V virus and Tara fell for it? I have a horrible feeling that that's what happened there... I really hope I'm wrong! Lettie was crazy and I think she may still have a little crazy left.

Anyway, I'm gonna go now because I'm half way through season 4 of the Vampire Diaries so that has got to be finished! I also need to get back in to Breaking Bad! Has anyone else been watching that on Netflix? It's really good but it takes some 'getting in to' if you know what I mean.

Let me know how you've been finding True Blood if you've been watching it! I'm always up for a True Blood discussion! :D

8 MaxFactor Mascaras - Tried & Tested!

Hello everyone!

I've been talking about it for a while and here it is, my 8 MaxFactor Mascaras Tried and Tested post! I hope you enjoy reading it and that it helps you decide which is right for you!

The Mascaras I have are:
False Lash Effect (Black)
Xperience Volumising Mascara (Black)
Clump Defy (Black)
2000 Calorie (Black)
Eye Brightening (Blue)
Masterpiece Max (Black)
Masterpiece Max (Brown)
Wild Mega Volume (Black)

First, the False Lash Effect mascara. I really love love love this mascara! I've written a full review on it which you can see HERE.

I love this mascara because I'm one of those people who likes thick, volumous lashes and this definitely gives you that. I really like the brush despite how it's some times difficult to work with as it's so large. When I apply this mascara I do notice some negative aspects such as how easily you can get this around your eyes if you're not careful, again I think that's due to the size of the brush. That's something to bear in mind if you apply mascara after your eyeshadow like me. It's so annoying when you try to get excess off your skin and smudge all your nice eyeshadow.

Also, you have to work pretty quickly with it especially if you like to apply more than one coat because it does clump easily. But you can always go over it with a mascara such as the Clump Defy which will separate them perfectly.

I think this is a great mascara, actually it's probably my favourite at the moment despite its difficult application. I really like the volume it gives my lashes, I also find that it adds a little bit of length too which is great. If you don't rush when using it it's fine in my experience but if you're someone who likes to hurry and get your makeup done quick you may not like this at all.

You can see what it looks like on me below:

Next, the Xperience Volumising mascara. I've had this mascara for a while now and I really do like it. I think it's quite understated really. It's one of them that does the job well but you kind of forget about it. That's how I feel anyway. But I still think it's a great mascara!

First, I really like the wand on this, it's so easy to work with. It's size makes for quick and efficient application. It's not too big that you get mascara all over your eyes and it's not too thin either. I also like the tapered end, the smaller bristles at the end work perfectly for the inner most lashes. Also, though I would recommend this to most people, I think this is a great mascara to start off with if you're a beginner. It's creates a flattering effect but you don't have to work too hard to achieve it.

I also noticed that it separates your lashes pretty well which is something you don't always get with a volumising mascara. You can see what the brush looks like below:

Another thing I notice when applying this mascara is that you can definitely build it up to your prefered volume/thickness. Unlike the False Lash Effect or the new Wild Mega Volume it's doesn't instantly cake the product on which is great, again, for those who aren't overly confident with volumising mascaras.

Thirdly, the Clump Defy mascara. I received this for my birthday pretty much around the time it was launched and to be honest I really don't reach for it as a stand alone day-to-day mascara as it doesn't give me the effect that I like.

There's nothing wrong with the mascara it's self, it definitely does it's job of defying clumps and separating lashes but it's not thick and volumising enough for my taste despite the fact that it's referred to as a volumising mascara. If you're someone who likes just a thin coat then you will probably really enjoy this mascara as it definitely gives a light weight and fluttery look to the lashes.

As you can see, the brush is curved and it has lots of small bristles which really separate the lashes well. Although curved brushes aren't something I really reach for I noticed that this one is a really nice shape, it seems to match the curvature of the eye perfectly although that may differ from person to person.

A good use I've started to put this mascara to is using it on top of a more volumising mascara such as the Wild one to stop them from clumping which can sometimes happen with thick mascaras and it works really well for that!

Another reason why I'm not too keen on this mascara is because it tends to drag your lashes as your pulling it through. I don't know whether that's how it prevents clumps or because not enough product is coming out on the brush but it does get on my nerves and contributes to why I don't use it on its own. I'm not sure whether this is the same for everyone or if I just have sensitive eyes, it's just something I've picked up on. Also I don't know whether it's only me who has experienced this but it really doesn't leave your lashes in a nice shape afterwards they just seem to stick out in all directions, it's very unusual and I found that it doesn't fully coat the lashes to the end. I'm really not a fan.

However, I would recommend this mascara to someone who likes to have a thin coat of mascara, not anything too bold. I really wouldn't buy it if you like thick lashes because you're not going to achieve that with this in my opinion. Otherwise, it is a good one to have around for those times when you need to correct some lashes that are sticking together!

The 2000 Calorie Mascara has been one of my favourites for a very long time! Again, it's a volumising mascara and I'd definitely say it's the most volumising of all the mascaras in this post.

The reason that I like this so much is because it creates a very thick, extremely black frame of lashes and I find that it makes your eye colour stand out a lot more than any other mascara I've tried. I think it has to do with the thickness of the formula but when I wear this my eyes just look more blue.

Things I notice most when applying it is how wet the formula is, it sounds weird and gross, I know, but it definitely helps to thoroughly coat the lashes. Again, it's very thick and volumising which does lead to problems such as clumping. I said this is the most volumising, it's also the most easy to make a mess of. The brush just isn't designed in a way that helps to separate your lashes, it's bristles are thick and close together, they're also very soft so they can't get in between each lash to separate like a mascara such as the Clump Defy can. If you're not careful they will stick together so just keep that in mind!

Even though from the description I've just given you may be thinking this is a nightmare mascara and in all truth, it is. It's not for the faint hearted but the way it looks on the lashes when it's applied well is so nice! That's why I continue to work with it. It's such a deep colour, it creates the perfect frame for your eyes, you just have to work a little harder for it!

I remember running out to Boots when the Eye Brightening mascara was brand new under the impression that I definitely needed it in my life. I don't. In all the time that I've had it I must've used it about 3 times. I just don't reach for a blue mascara on a regular basis. I know I shouldn't knock it just because it's not to my preferences so I'll just get on with what I think about this blue mascara.

To be completely honest when I applied it this morning to see what I thought of it it was definitely blue on the brush but on the eyes it doesn't look blue at all and on the pictures you would just think it's black. So I really don't see what it's point is.

Don't get me wrong, it's a really nice mascara to use. It has a very similar, if not identical brush to the Xperience mascara which I really like. The formula is very wet and has good coverage it actually goes on very easily compared to some of the other mascaras in this post, just one coat and it's done! It's also very easy to remove too, I don't know why I find it different to the others but it just seems to come off easier.

You can see it's blueness on the picture below:

I don't think I'd wear this mascara on it's own, however, I think a nice use for it would be over a normal black mascara just on the tips which may create the brightening effect it claims to have. On it's own I think it does kind of compliment blue eyes but I wouldn't go crazy over it. If you have found a good way to use this mascara please let me know so it's not just sitting around! :D

Black/Brown
Black
Penultimately, I have 2 Masterpiece Max mascaras to talk about, one in Black/Brown which I used to wear a lot and the other is just Black which I haven't worn too often. They're both the exact same just different colours so I thought I'd just discuss them together.

I used to wear the brown shade of this mascara every single day before I discovered that I prefer volumising mascaras but I still do really enjoy it. It doesn't give a very dramatic effect but it works really well for a natural, day time look. I used to really enjoy brown mascaras because they match my blonde hair better but I've been converted to black because I enjoy the way they look. The brown version of this, which you can see in the picture below) definitely looks more subtle. It's so much lighter and I think for someone who doesn't want to look over the top maybe for school or work this would be perfect for you.

Brown/Black
Black
As far as the formula is concerned, it's not very thick at all so you're not in danger of creating any major clumps. Also the brush is, again, similar to that of Xperience which separates lashes too. I noticed that it's quite a dry formula too so you're unlikely to smudge it all around your eyes. Overall, I think this is a very easy mascara to work with. It gives a natural coverage (especially the brown) and I think anyone could get some use out of it!

You can see below how different the black and brown shades look:

Lastly, (phew this has be a very long post), the new Wild Mega Volume mascara. As you may have seen already I have a full review on this which you can see buy clicking HERE so I'm going to make this one short and sweet.

This is another very volumising mascara and it does it's job very well. I think some people don't like it because it is a little messy, if you're someone who applies your makeup whilst commuting or you're just in a rush you're probably going to hate it. It has very similar bristles to the 2000 Calorie mascara, they have the same texture and they don't separate your lashes much due to their softness.

Having been using this mascara pretty much everyday since I bought it I'm comfortable in telling you that I think it's works well, it does what it's supposed to do: create thick, dramatic lashes and it also seems to create some length and curl too. In my experience, it seems to last all day, it doesn't smudge as the day wears on either. It seems that the more you use it the more you get used to how it works, I think with every new mascara one method of application works better than the other, you just have to keep working with it!

Anyway, that's all I'm going to say about this one as this post is so so long but if you are interested in it you can click on the link above for more details on it!

Makeup and Beauty Reorg!

Hello everyone!

If you read my HAUL post you'll know that I bought some boxes to reorganise my makeup and make the place look a bit tidier. I'm happy that I've finally got some kind of system and method to my makeup storage because it was really getting a little out of hand!

It didn't take as long as I thought to sort everything out so the same afternoon I went to Ikea and bought a large box container for all my bottles of perfume, moisturisers and sprays, things like that.

You can see the before and after pics below:

Box: £2.50 from Ikea.
I put all my face products like foundation, powder, blush and bronzer in the biggest box, eye products are in the medium box and lip products are in the smallest box.

I was hoping to have room left over so that I could add to the boxes but they are absolutely full to the top which is a little annoying because now I'm going to have to buy more boxes to store things... or just stop buying makeup?

It still looks a little messy and there's a few more things I want to sort out but for now, I'm happy with it. What do you think?

Thanks for reading!
