Mini 'Seventeen' Makeup Haul!

Hello Everyone!

I feel like I haven't written a post for ages... probably because I haven't. I was going to write a huge collective haul of all the things I've bought over the last few months but if I'm being honest I can't actually remember everything that I bought that long ago. So I thought I'd just show you a few things I picked up from the new Seventeen makeup range.

I say 'new' but I'm not completely sure whether it is new? I saw a gift set they had on offer for only £17 down from £35 and I was desperate to buy it but it was completely sold out everywhere then when I looked online it was no longer on offer. Sad times. However, I'm dying to get my hands on the new limited edition Urban Decay Vice 2 palette which is £42. Knowing my luck that will sell out before I can afford it too :(

Anyway these are the things I picked up from Seventeen:

I bought the Flawless Poreless Primer, the Wow Skin Highlighter and the Phwoarr Paint Concealer in fair. I think there were about £5.99 each but they had a 3 for £10 offer on so I didn't think that was bad at all.

I actually bought the highlighter because it says on the bottle you can use it as a primer so I thought that'd be interesting to try. It might turn out disastrous and make you look like a Twilight vampire but we'll see.

I have used the concealer and I can vouch that it is very thick and high coverage. I actually would say the formula is comparable to that of the Benefit Boi-ing concealer maybe just a little bit thicker. I do really like it, it works great under the eyes however, it would have been nice if it was just a little bit lighter. I have it in the colour fair but I'd say it's more of a medium tone. In comparison with my Benefit one it's actually quite dark. But that's the only downfall for me. I don't find that it creases throughout the day, having said that, I don't have oily skin so that might differ depending on your skin type. Other than that it's a really good concealer and for around £6 I can't complain.

Anyway, that's all I picked up from Seventeen. They actually had quite a few things I'd like to buy from this new range, they had a primer in a tube I'd quite like to try but that's for another day!

Have you tried anything from Seventeen recently?

Bates Motel ***No Spoilers***

Hello everyone!

Has anyone ever watched the 1960s film Psycho? It's a Hitchcock film and I won't say much about it because I don't want to ruin it for anyone who hasn't seen it. But, a new series aired a few weeks ago in the UK on the Universal channel called Bates Motel which is based on the 1960s film except it's in programme form.

A few of my friends started watching it and since I'd missed the first episode, of course I had to download the whole series and watch it all... in about a week. I do this all the time, I have vast amounts of uni work to be focusing on, think I don't have any time yet I can always find time to watch a whole series of something, or several series sometimes (I watched ALL of Lost in about 2 weeks :|)

Also, quick side note, The Vampire Diaries has started again! Woo! Beyond happy! And despite the fact that I've already seen True Blood season 6 that's just aired in the UK too...

Anyway, back to my point, if you haven't seen Bates Motel and you like to watch psychological thrillers you definitely should give it a watch. It has some really good actors in it too like Freddie Highmore, you know from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? he plays the main role, and he's pretty creepy I have to say. And Vera Farmiga who's such a good actor in these creepy kinda things, she was in The Conjuring which came out not too long ago which is probably one of my favourite horrors and I've watched a lot.

So, I don't want to say much more other than you should definitely watch it if creepy thrillers and psychological stuff is what you're in to!

Let me know what you think if you decide to watch it or already have :)

Knaresborough & Mother Shipton's Cave

Helloo everyone!
Long time no see :( How're you all doing?

On Sunday (6th October) Tom and I visited a place I'd never heard of before called Knaresborough (Harrogate, Yorkshire). We went to see a place called Mother Shipton's Cave where supposedly a witch used to live. She was said to be a witch because items were 'petrified' or turned to stone there. It was really interesting to see and we obviously know now that things turned to stone so quickly due to the high mineral content in the water (or something along them lines). It only takes 3 months for an item such as a hat or shoe to completely turn to stone. However, the whole story of it is actually really interesting so I'd definitely recommend having a read on Wikipedia or Google if you're in to witches and prophecies etc., she was supposed to have predicted some strange things.

Nevertheless, the place is still pretty creepy so I thought you'd like to see some pictures I took. Unfortunately I forgot my good camera because I'm a dumb ass so iphone quality it is... enjoy!

A wishing well. For your wish to come true you have to put one hand in the water and leave your hand to naturally dry...
Wishing Water...
Is it unusual that I had the urge to sneak some leaves off that red house for my candle jars? Such a pretty colour!

A Crafty Haul, Part 2!

Hello everyone!

I'm back with the second part of my crafty haul. I wanted this to go up sooner but I went back to uni on the 1st so I had to sort myself out for that, I've just been a bit busier. I need to figure out days that I'm going to post on so it's a bit more consistent.

Anyway, I returned to Hobbycraft for a few more bits and bobs so I thought I'd show you what I picked up in case anyone's interested in getting crafty for Christmas!

First off, I store everything in this wicker basket which Tom bought me from TKMaxx. It's the perfect size for little things which'll soon get lost if they're not kept together. TKMaxx and Homesence have loads of these kind of storage baskets, I really enjoy using them :) And it's was only £5.99!

Next I always collect the spare buttons from clothes and beads from necklaces and bracelets I no longer wear for craft projects which I keep in this little tin. The tin is actually from one of the free gifts that MaxFactor do every now and then if you spend X amount of money on the brand.

Now on to the things I picked up from Hobbycraft!

First, Tom found this finishing spray. Ideally I wanted a clear Acrylic finishing spray but I couldn't find one anywhere despite the fact that I saw one on the website. If anyone knows where I can buy one please let me know! :)

This one seems to do the job but it does have some glitter in it and I don't think it has an acrylic finish so it's not exactly what I was looking for but it does the job for now. If you're looking for it in Hobbycraft it's near all the Christmas and Halloween things.

Price: £5.99
SPRAY AND SPARKLE

Next, I fancied some ribbon! So I picked up two thick rustic looking ribbons and one reel that says 'Merry Christmas' The majority of things were on 3 for 2 in the Christmas craft section and I think these are really cute.

(I can't find a link to the first two but I know they were 75p each)

MERRY CHRISTMAS RIBBON
Price: £2.00

I picked up some 'Natural Cinnamon Sticks' my plan was to put one inside the candle holders with a none scented tea light in the hope that it'll give off a cinnamon scent. I'll let you know how I get on with this idea...

Price: £1.50
CINNAMON STICKS

I also bought some wire for decorating the candle holders. It looks red but it's actually a burnt orange colour. It's really pretty, I don't know how I'm going to use it yet but I'm sure I'll think of something!

Price: £2.00
RED WIRE

Penultimately I saw these cute looking gift tags and thought they'd be nice this coming Christmas. They're just plain and white and look nice and festive. Who doesn't love some pretty gift tags?

(I can't find a link to these either :( I think they were only about £1.00 though)

And lastly, I bought the plain white glass paint I was talking about in part 1 of this post. The pearly white just wasn't a great colour for things that I wanted to be plain white so I decided it'd be best to just pick this up too. I also bought a glass pen for outlining things as I discovered it's not the easiest thing to do with a paint brush!

Price: £2.69

Price: £3.99

That's everything I bought, my bill came to around £20 and the Christmas things were all on 3 for 2.

Hope you enjoyed reading this!

Yankee Candle Halloween Tea Light Deal!

Hello everyone!

In light of it now being October and Halloween quickly approaching I wanted to buy some new candles to fragrance my room. The problem was I wanted both the Candy Corn and the Witch's Brew scents. However, I didn't want to fork out for both the candles so I saw a deal on eBay for 1 set of tea lights in each scent and a tea light holder!

I think this is a really great deal, the tea lights burn for a whole evening and fill a small-medium sized room like a candle would. You'd probably need to light a few more to fill a large room with the scent. I know these tea light sets are around £7.00 RRP so to get 2 sets and a holder for less than £10.00 is a bargain!

Scent wise, the Candy Corn is very sweet, as you'd expect, and the Witch's Brew (my favourite) is very musky and heavy, it definitely smells like what I'd imagine a Witch's coven would smell like...

I'd definitely check this deal out if you're looking for something Halloweeny or aren't sure which scent to buy.

Price: £9.99
You can see the deal HERE.

An October Chat!

Hello everyone!
How are you?

Can you believe it's the 1st of October? I love October! I think it's my favourite month, I like the fresh mornings, I like that it's not freezing as it can get in the Winter. I love Halloween and just everything about it!

Also, It was my first day of third year at uni today and I was definitely not feeling going back. I've been off since the end of March so it's very difficult to get back in to the swing of things. Hopefully by the end of the week it's all be okay. Now I'm back at university I need to figure out which days I'm going to post on to make everything a bit more consistent so there's not huge gaps in between each post. That'll be my food for thought over the next few days.

Anyway, I didn't want to start the new month with no post which is why this is a bit rambly and nonsensical! Do you like my new Halloween header btw? I made it a few weeks ago in preparation for October! I really love it, I'm going to make a Christmassy one soon!

So that's all I wanted to mention really, new month, new header, back to uni, need to figure out the days which posts are going to be... posted.

What's your favourite month?
How're you feeling about how horrendously fast this year has seemed to go by? It's frightening!

Hope you're all doing well!
See you next time,
