A week of Seventeen Reviews | Skin WOW Primer/Highlight!

Hello Everyone!

This is the last one! The last review in my Week of Seventeen reviews! Today I'm talking about the Skin Wow Highlight/Primer. On Monday I reviewed the Flawless Poreless Primer and on Wednesday I reviewed the Phwoarr Paint Concealer.

This is a liquid highlight, of which I have quite a few. I don't know why I continue to buy highlighters because they're not something I reach for a lot. I just like how pretty they look in the tubes. I have used this a few times however to see how it performs on the skin. It's supposed to be a 3 way highlight, you can use it as a primer, mixed in with your foundation and just dotted around the face where you usually would highlight.

I'm not going to be talking about how it performs as a primer because I haven't tried that yet and I very much doubt that I will. I just can't see it being a great look all over your face. My method was just just pump out a bit on my hand and apply it on my cheek bones, down my nose, on my chin and under my eyebrow as a highlight. There are so many things you could do with this though, you could use it all over your skin as a body highlight you could use it on the inner corner of your eyes or as an eyeshadow base or even add it to eyeshadow pigments for a little extra shimmer. These kind of products are so diverse. I love it!

I think this creates a nice frosty shimmer, great for the winter. I usually like to use a more golden toned highlight in the summer but this is a nice change for the cold months! You do have to apply it quite thickly to see it in my experience, it seemed to quickly absorb in to my skin, probably because it's quite liquidy. But it can create a nice subtle effect or you could really apply a lot for something more dramatic. You can create a more lively complexion with this and add some definition especially if you're someone who likes to do a lot of contouring, this would be nice for the lighter contouring. Another of my favourite highlights is the MAC loose powder highlight in silver dusk. It is one of the most beautiful items of makeup I own! You can see pictures and a review HERE.

One reason I really like this product is because it's more of a sheen than a full on glitter. Which is why it's so different to the MAC one I mentioned above. You're not going to find huge flecks of glitter in this, it's just a very subtle shimmer.

I think this is a really nice highlight, I don't think there's anything special about it being a '3 way highlight' because you could use any highlight you own in them ways so I wouldn't write home about that. I like the frosty shimmer it has and I like that it's buildable and has multiple uses. As far as the 'primer' is concerned I can't give you a really review on that because I haven't used it in that manner yet. Has anyone else? I just don't think it would make a very good primer and I fear that it'd make you look really oily. I might give it a go one day and let you know what I think.

I also thoroughly enjoy that it comes with a pump! In my world, everything would come in a pump hahah. Overall, this product does what it says on the can, it's a nice starter highlight because you can't go wrong with it, if you make a mistake you can blend it away easily enough and it's buildable. If you have quite a few highlights in your collection I don't think you'd put this to a whole lot of use, you might even already have something very similar and there's plenty of alternatives out there!

You get a generous amount of product in the bottle, 30ml for £5.99.

Hope that was helpful to you!

Hello everyone!

I thought I'd do a little makeup of the day for you today. You know them days when your makeup just works out really well, it was one of them! So much so that I decided to ditch the glasses and put my contacts in so I wasn't hiding all my handy work. hahah!

So I'll just list everything that's on my face!

Benefit POREfessional Primer
MaxFactor CC Cream
Benefit Boi-ing Concealer in shade 01
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Tranparent
No.7 Blush in Coral Flush
Benefit What's Up Highlight
ILAH Brow Powder
L'Oreal Super Liner in Black Lacquer
MaxFactor False Lash Effect in Black
Barry M Waterproof Bold Black Eyeliner
Benefit Ultra Plush Lipgloss in Hoola

... That seems a little excessive but I really like the look these products produced and I've been leaning towards a more full-coverage look over the last few weeks with the winter drawing in and the cold weather A lot of them were from the Benefit Little Love Potions Gift Set, see HERE. I've been really enjoying the samples in that set, a few of which I can see myself buying the full versions of as they've been working so effectively! I'll be writing individual reviews soon!

Thanks for reading everyone!

A week of Seventeen Reviews | Phwoarr Paint Concealer!

Hello everyone!

This week I'm reviewing 3 items from the Seventeen complexion range. On Monday I reviewed the Flawless Poreless Concealer, click HERE to view, and today I'm going to review the Phwoarr Paint Concealer.

I bought it in the shade Fair becaue I pretty much buy everything in the lightest shade and the first thing I noticed when I got it home was that it's not really the lightest shade in the world. For something called 'Fair' I would say it could have been lighter.

For that reason I've only been wearing it under my eyes. I know it's designed as an under eye concealer but typically I just use my concealers where I need them, I don't really have two separate ones for the face and under eye. Whereas with this one it really is just for under your eyes. Being aimed at the under eye area it does have a salmony, peachy coloured tone to it which I really like. It cancels out dark tones excellently.

Also, it's extremely thick which I'd be aware of if you struggle with creasing under your eyes. I'd definitely make the effort to apply a primer if that applies to you because this concealer it extremely rich and thick and creamy I can imagine it's an absolute God send for new mums who have been up all night hahaha.

This is a very heavy duty concealer which I think would be a great addition to anyone's makeup bag over the winter months when you tend to go for a more full coverage, flawless look. You really can tell a difference when you have this on, if you only apply it to one eye you can instantly notice that it's missing on the other eye. Considering it's thick and creamy texture though I don't find that it gets shiny throughout the day, but I don't really get oily under eyes so that may vary depending on your skin type. I really would recommend using a primer with this however. Or maybe do a test run on a lazy day to see how it performs for you!

I really like the packaging on this product, it's sturdy, compact and looks really cute. It even has a little mirror inside which is great for touchups throughout the day. Again, I don't think you're getting a huge amount of product in this package but you really don't need a lot of it to do the job so it should last you a while. I really feel like you could compare this to the benefit Boi-ing concealer. They have very similar textures, the Benefit one may be a little bit creamier, it's just the shade difference and the packaging that make them look so different. I would definitely put this high up on my list of best under eye concealers!

You can buy this at Boots for £ 5.49

Next time I will be reviewing the Seventeen Skin WOW Primer/Highlight.

MaxFactor Creme Puff!

Hello Everyone!

MaxFactor have something new out! Woo! Well, it isn't new, is it. It's just repackaged in gold but I've never actually noticed this before which is unusual because I spend most of my time in Boots at the MaxFactor section! I picked up the Creme Puff Pressed Powder at the beginning of last week when I first noticed it, I love MaxFactor, if I could choose only one brand to use forever I think it would be this one. I also wonder whether it's supposed to be partnered with the Whipped Creme Foundation? They both have CREME in the title! :D

I usually use the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder, I've been a fan for ages but when you use something constantly for so long it can get boring I find but I just haven't ever used anything that works so well. So I thought I'd give this a try and see what it's like.

In the shop I was a bit confused about the shade because I usually use the 40 shade but I picked up 05 Translucent because it seemed like that was the lightest shade even though it was in the middle of the row. I didn't really know what was going on. But you can't get lighter than 'transluscent' can you?

First of all, this has the strangest scent ever. It's not a horrible scent it's kind of medical although my mum thinks it smells like baby powder... really unusual for a makeup product. Second of all, it's not very light. No where near as light as my Rimmel powder. I was so disappointed when I compared them at home because in the shop, under them lights I didn't notice a massive difference, I was concerned that I hadn't picked up the lightest shade but it didn't look too dark. If that makes sense. When I got it home and put the two next to each other, there's a pretty big difference in shading.

Despite the shade difference I bit the bullet and applied it the same way I would my normal setting powder; all over my face with no mercy. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. It didn't look ridiculously dark, don't get me wrong you could tell it was a bit darker than usual but it looked quite nice, it livened up my skin, made me look a bit more radiant and gave my complexion some colour, something you don't see much of in the winter! If you're like me, unbelievably pale, verging on see through, just lightly dust it over your face and add some on your neck and chest too!

The powder feels really smooth and luxurious, almost creamy, but not creamy haha. It's very finely milled and there's just no messing with this product. I used to use a different MaxFactor compact for my powder called the Facefinity which retails at £10.99 and I went through well over 10 of them. Ridiculous when I think back, you're basically paying for the hefty packaging and a squidge of powder. The packaging on this is simple, not bulky full of product, just what you want!

You can see on the image below the difference between the Creme Puff (Left) and the Rimmel Stay Matte (Right).

It says on the Boots website that you can use this as an all over foundation which, although I haven't tried, I do think would be possible because it has a decent amount of coverage, I'd say medium but buildable too. So it's a lot better value for money than the Facefinity compact. It sets to a completely matte finish, in my experience this lasts the majority of the day but on a busy day I'd have to touch up throughout the afternoon, as with most powders.

You get 21g of product in this compact which I think is a generous amount, well worth the money considering you can use it as a foundation if you like powder foundations. In my mind the only downfall of this product is that it's not very light which is a shame because MaxFactor products usually suit my skin tone really well.

You can buy this at Boots for £5.99

P.S. Random fact. Through taking pictures of swatches on my hands for blog posts, I've noticed that in the Summer my hands have freckles and in the Winter they disappear! So strange, so strange.

A week of Seventeen reviews | Flawless Poreless Primer!

Hello Everyone!

You may remember a while back when I bought these new Seventeen face products. There was a 3 for £10 offer on in Boots so I picked up the Flawless Poreless Primer, the Phwoarr Paint Concealer and the Skin WOW Primer/Highlight.

I thought I'd give them each their own individual review, starting with the primer today. I did debate writing about them all in one post but it would be too long winded as I do have a decent amount to say about each item!

So, starting with the Flawless Poreless Primer!

First of all I think this is a really great primer. I've been using it almost everyday since I bought it (you can see that I accidentally took a chuck out of it with my nail grr) and I've been absolutely loving it. I apply it with my fingers on my nose, chin and forehead, they do recommend that you apply it with your fingers although I don't see why you couldn't just dip a makeup brush in to the product and use it that way.

The primer is completely clear in colour so there's no need to worry about whether it will match you and it feels so silky smooth. It kind of feels the same as an Avon primer I have, I think it's called Magic, they have the same smooth and weightless texture. It's not greasy at all and it leaves your skin looking matte and smooth for your foundation application.

I've seen quite a few people saying that this primer makes no difference at all to their skin and I have a feeling that's because they aren't applying enough of it. I tend to put about two coats of this on my problem areas because, as they say, one coat just doesn't cut it. But once you have a decent amount of the product on I think it definitely gives your skin a flawless, poreless finish and a good base for your foundation.

Throughout the day, I do notice a difference in the staying power of my foundation. I found that it increases the matte-ness of my skin for at least 2-3 more hours, it helps keep shine at bay for a lot longer than if I didn't use a primer at all so I'd say that it does pull off what it claims to do.

I would say that there are better primers out there, but for double or triple the price. I've also been using the Benefit Poreless primer and whilst I do think that performs better, it doesn't make me dislike the Seventeen version because it also does a pretty damn good job.

I wasn't going to make a point of this because I'm not sure whether it's supposed to have this effect but I've found that the Seventeen Primer actually helps diminish some blemishes. I know that Seventeen is a brand aimed at teenagers and in some products they have salicylic acid. I don't know whether that's in the primer but I have noticed a difference. Just something worth noting I think. Am I the only one who's noticed this?

I am a big fan of this primer, however, there are some downfalls. First of all, the application. I would much prefer it to be in a tube. Something about rubbing your fingers about the product to apply it is a bit off putting for me #germs. Although it looks pretty in it's packaging, ultimately I think it's too bulky, awkward to store and not useful. I think the packaging may be a tool to help disguise the lack of product you're actually getting. It looks like you're getting quite a lot because it's in a big compact but there's only 5.5g of product which compared to my other compacts of that size which hold over 15g of product, it's a bit misleading.

Having said that, all of them cons are regarding the packaging, as far as the product is concerned I don't really have anything negative to say about it. I think it's a really nice product. If you're struggling to see a difference when you use it I'd recommend applying a bit more than you normally would, give it a minute or so to settle on your skin (probably go and wash it off your hands or something) then go back and apply your foundation, I think you might see a difference then. If not, maybe it's not the primer for you :(.

You can buy this at Boots for £5.99

I hope this was helpful!
If you have any questions, leave them in the comments and I'll get back to you.

Next will be my review of the Seventeen Phwaorr Paint Concealer!

See you then,

Yankee Candle winter scents haul/review!

Hello Everyone!

We all love a festive candle to see us through the winter months, don't we? In my opinion you can't beat Yankee Candles, I know they're pricy for something you're just going to burn away but when you're sat in a room full of your favourite scent, I think you'll agree that it's money well spent.

I have the scents 'Black Cherry', 'Spiced Orange' and 'Cranberry Ice'. All of which I bought off eBay for a significantly cheaper price than if I bought them off the official Yankee Candle website. I thought it would be a nice change from my normal beauty related posts to write a little candle show and tell session! So let's get the ball rolling with...

...Black Cherry! I bought a sample size of this last year and I loved it, even the tiny little size was enough to fill a room with scent. So this year I bought the full version and I have to say, I don't love it.

For some reason, it smells very artificial and plasticky. When you just smell in while it's in the jar, it's fine but something about it when it's burning isn't very nice for me personally. Some people may love this scent but there's just something about it that seems very plasticky. Having said that, the sample size smelt divine so maybe the smaller size version is nicer because it disperses more around the room? I have no idea but for me, this wasn't a winner unfortunately. :(

Spiced orange! I absolutely love this scent! It's the epitome of all things Christmassy and festive and wintery. I love it. I haven't yet lit this one so I can't comment on what it's like when it's burning but I definitely don't get the impression that it's going to be artificial.

If you're familiar with the Fruit Fusion scented candle, this one is very similar except it's a lot deeper and wintery. It's not at all musky or cinnamony but there is a spicy note running through it although the orange scent it definitely the strongest scent.

I really love this candle, I think it's may favourite of the three I have and it weirdly reminds me of the scene in Holes (you know the Disney film?) when Zero is eating that jam he finds in the boat. I feel like that jam would smell like this!

Lastly not definitely not least, Cranberry Ice. This is the sweetest scented candle I've ever bought. It's like when you walk in to a sweet shop and the sweet scent just hits you. I love it. This is definitely one of them that you're going to love or hate as it is really strong. Despite it's sweetness I don't find it sickly,  it's still fresh and sharp.

I think when you're buying such an expensive candle you're better off smelling it yourself first because they are on the pricey side and if you buy one it's going to last you for about a month so you need to know what you're getting in to. The 'scent of the month' at Clintons is something with caramel in it and I hate it. It's so sickly and horrible. I'd go mad if I had to sit in a room with it on. Yet I can imagine that it absolutely appeals to some people. I really want to buy a cinnamon scented one, I'm thinking Cinnamon Stick but I really need to see it first incase I don't like it because even though I love cinnamon I have a feeling I may not like a candle version of it. I don't know. I'm strange!

I bought all these candles off eBay and they are 100% genuine, I'll leave the links below if you'd like to have a look, they have lots of different scents. Obviously you can also buy these on the Yankee Candle website if you'd prefer!

BLACK CHERRY LARGE JAR £14.99 (free P&P)
SPICED ORANGE LARGE JAR £18.99 (free P&P)
(This one is more expensive, it must be quite popular)
CRANBERRY ICE LARGE JAR £14.99 (free P&P)

My First Time!

Hello everyone!

I saw EmilyNoel's recent video on YouTube where she answered the My First Time questions. I've seen quite a few of these videos roaming around so I thought I'd answer the questions here on the blog as I love writing tag posts :D

Hope you enjoy!

Do you still talk to your FIRST love?

Yes, Tom is my first love and we definitely do still talk!

What was your FIRST job?

In high school in year 10 we had to do some 'work experience', I don't know if kids even still have to do it nowadays but I worked in a Primary school for 2 weeks. I remember not enjoying it one bit whilst I was there but in hindsight I think it was a good thing.

What was your FIRST car?

I don't drive so I'm yet to have my first car!

Who was the FIRST person you text you today?

I think that was Tom. Either Tom or my Mum but I think Tom.

Who is the FIRST person you thought of this morning?

I actually can't remember.

Who was your FIRST grade teacher?

I had a teacher called Miss Triggs. She was so lovely and if I'm not mistaken I think she still works there now. She's been at that school for years!

Where did you go on your FIRST ride on an aeroplane?

Somewhere in Spain and I was only about 18moths old. Apparently I cried...a lot.

Who was your FIRST best friend and do you still talk?

My very very first best friend was a girl called Lucy. I read my nursery report not too long ago and it said something along the lines of 'Leanne and Lucy are often together' I can't remember exactly. But no unfortunately we don't still talk. People drift apart yano...

Let's all just take a minute to appreciate the date on this...

What was your FIRST sleep over?

Gosh, erm, it probably was at Lucy's house to be honest. I don't really remember it too much. But I had a friend called Naomi all the way through primary school and I used to stay at her Grandma's house very often! They were fun times :D

Who was the FIRST person you spoke to today?

The first person I properly had a conversation with today was Tom on the phone when I was getting ready for uni and having a little sulk because I didn't want to go.

Who's wedding were you in the FIRST time?

My Parent's.

What was the FIRST thing you did this morning?

Open my eyes and got up... ahha Then I drank a coffee and got dressed.

What was the FIRST concert you ever went to?

I remember when I was young we always used to go to productions on ice like Disney on Ice and I vividly remember going to see the Tweenies on Ice when my sister was young. My first music concert was to see Keane lol. My friend had a spare ticket so yeah I tagged along. Had no idea what music I was listening to hahaha.

FIRST broken bone?

I havent broken any yet.. touch wood.

FIRST piercing?

Other than normal ear lobe piercings which I had done twice when I was about 5. My tongue was my first 'real' piercing when I was 19.

FIRST foreign country you went to?

I think Spain.

FIRST movie you remember seeing?

I remember loving to watch 101 Dalmatians and the Aristocats! I always wondered how the old woman got up them tiny stairs in the house. Loved them films!

When was your FIRST detention?

I never had a detention but I remember having to stand outside the Head Teacher's office in primary school for not watching the dinner line move along. Our dinner lady was a miserable bitch. Made me cry that.

Who was your FIRST roommate?

My sister.. we shared a room when we were young. She had her own room, she just wouldn't sleep in it.

What were the FIRST lessons you ever took?

For my GCSE options I took French, Art and IT. They were the first subjects I was allowed to pick.

Who was the FIRST 'beauty related' person you watched on YouTube?

I really can't remember I think I started off watching not very well known YouTubers like a girl called Blondyshoop. But then I got in to the bigger YouTubers like EmilyNoel who I still love! I remember having to memorise everyone's usernames because I didn't want to subscribe. I was a weirdo.

Hope that was interesting to read, if you have read it, consider yourself tagged and leave a link to yours in the comments to I can have a read!

Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor Deep Conditioner!

Hello Everybody!

Recently I picked up the 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor Deep Conditioner (was there any need for it's title to have that many words?!) by Aussie. My hair had to endure tomato ketchup yes, I tried that, it didn't work incase you're wondering, 5 lots of bleach and a hair dye to get some green out when the removal of my purple went very wrong. For more info read THIS post. So I wisely picked up this little gem for when I next washed my hair. I was dreading trying to get a comb through it. But this really did work a treat.

First of all, it smells divine. To be honest, I wouldn't have bothered what it smelt like if it did the job but I'm just putting it out there... it smells lovely and bubble gummy and just like goodness!

It claims to 'transform dry, damaged hair in to manageable and shiny locks in just 3 minutes'. It uses 'Australian Balm Mint Extract' and has been referred to as the 'elixir of life'. Okay, I wouldn't call it the elixir of life but I would call it 'a bloody excellent hair conditioner when your hair's in a right state'.

My technique for using this was to smother and I mean completely cover my hair in this. I didn't go right up to the roots because the bleach was only applied about half way down my hair to the ends so my roots really didn't need it. I applied it to dry hair then I wrapped it up in a towel and left it for about 40 mins. I can't comment on whether this is a 3 minute miracle treatment but I can vouch that it's an excellent 40 minute treatment...

The reason I left it on for longer was because I thought my hair needed it and I'd made the effort to find something that's designed to be left in your hair for a while so I was definitely going to leave it there for as long as I could before getting fed up with it. I leave my normal conditioner on for about 3 minutes so I decided to leave this on and let it merrily work it's magic for longer.

When I washed it off, my hair felt beautiful, it felt so smooth and nourished.. I know I'm using too many flowery adjectives here but I could genuinely tell that it had made a difference to my hair. My tangle teezer just glided right through without a problem and I'm so glad that I picked this up. I could also tell when I straightened my hair afterwards, my hair felt soft and looked shiny and healthy. It didn't leave a film or grease behind but you could see a lasting effect. Your hair doesn't even need to be exceptionally damaged for you to see a difference with this, even if it just needs a little pick-me-up, this would do the job.

So, if you've piled on the bleach or even if you just fancy treating your hair, I'd highly recommend this product. It doesn't contain any hair altering properties like colour restoring or anything like that, it just hydrates and repairs damaged hair exceptionally well. I really don't mind singing it's praises because it saved my hair from looking like a mess! I love it!

I hope that was helpful, this product gets an A* from me!
If you have any questions just leave them in the comments and I'll reply!

A Very Random Haul!

Hello everyone!

I have here today a very random haul. I've just collected a few bits and pieces I've bought over the last few weeks or so. I feel like I've bought quite a lot but have nothing to show but I think that's because the majority of things I've been buying are Christmas presents. So please behold the randomness:

First, I bought these rings. I'm not really a ring kinda person because they just look ridiculous on my very white hands and if I can't be bothered sorting out my chipped nail polish they draw attention to it. But I bought these because I like the second one down from the top. I just wanted to buy that one but I couldn't. Although it didn't really matter because they were in the sale at Debenhams and I got the set for about £5.00 so it's no biggie. I really like these rings, they're from the brand 'mood' which do some really pretty jewellery and I kind of wish I'd picked up some more things while the sale was on.

Secondly, I bought myself a flask. I see these in TKMaxx all the time and always wish I had one when I'm leaving for uni in the morning for the bus journey. So I bought one. It was only about £3.80, definitely less than £4.00 and I'm happy that I now have it for the winter mornings!

Next, I've had my eye on this Soap & Glory Face Massager for ages and I eventually bought it, used it a few times, lost it and today I found it again woo! I actually really love using this as part of my makeup removal routine. Paired with the Peaches and Clean it leaves a really nice, smooth and healthy feeling to the skin. I just massage my face with some sort of cleanser and it seems to really awaken my skin. I know there's some flowery words in there haha but I really think it helps my cleanser do a better job!

Price: £4.00 View HERE.

Having had a green hair disaster I decided it was time to purchase some new hair care products. First on the agenda is this Dove leave in conditioner. I'm a huge fan of dry shampoo and the thought of putting conditioner in my hair when it was dry just seemed like a grease fest. However, lots of people recommend this to keep your hair looking shiny and smooth so I thought I'd give it a go.

I've been using this a lot since I bought it and I can safely say that it definitely doesn't make your hair greasy. It just replaces some moisture and sheen and healthiness to the ends of your hair (I wouldn't spray it near your roots). It also smells lovely and fresh.

I'd definitely recommend this if you're on the look out for a product that you can quickly spray in your hair in the morning to help it look presentable. I'd particularly recommend it to those, like me, who only like to wash their hair once a week....

Price: £3.59, view HERE.

I also picked up some trusty Aussie products. I love Aussie, I really do, you just can't go wrong with them. There was a 3 for £10 offer on in Boots so I picked up a Miracle Moist Shampoo and Conditioner and a 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor Deep Conditioner. As you can probably tell, moisture and conditioning was my main goal here. Only a week ago I had FIVE lots of bleach applied to my hair to remove green colouring... my hair needs it.

I have used the deep conditioner and it works an absolute treat. My main issue was the problem I was going to have getting a comb through my hair after all that bleach but that product really helped. I'll write a real full review soon on it.

Price: Shampoo and Conditioner: £4.69 View HERE.
Deep Conditioner: £4.99 View HERE.

Lastly, I have two more jewellery pieces. Debenhams had another sale on and these items were on half price. I think the necklace was £2.50 and the ring was £2.00. I love the necklack because the colour reminds me of a peacock and I think the ring is a nice dressy addition to my jewellery collection!

And that's everything I've bought that I can remember haha.
Hope you enjoyed reading this and didn't mind the randomness!

What's your most random recent purchase?

See you next time,

P.S. I also bought a copy of H.G.Well's The Island of Dr Moreau for my dissertation and the seller put a note in it saying 'Thank you I hope you enjoy reading'. I thought that was so cute!

Benefit 'Little Love Potions' Christmas Gift Set.

Hello Everyone!

You know when you just fancy treating yourself to a Christmas present? A present to me from me. That's what happened here.

I like the idea of these Christmas sets, especially if you're interested in a particular brand but don't want to splash out on the individual products, you can get a good idea when you buy a set like this what you do and don't like. Then if there's something you really like you can confidently go and buy the full size. The only other items I have from Benefit are the Boi-ing Concealer and the They're real mascara. So I like the idea of having a variety of sample size products without feeling bad that I spent too much money.

I picked up the 'Little Love Potions' set. It's a complexion kit, you get all the necessary products to create the perfect base. I really liked the idea of this because I haven't yet got the ideal routine for my makeup yet and I'm hoping that some of these products will help me find something I like. I'm hoping I don't fall in love with all of the products because that would be a pricy affair...

So first of all, you get a 3.0g sample of the 'It's Potent' eye cream. I don't currently use any kind of eye cream so I'm looking forward to seeing what this actually does.

Next, you get a 2.5ml sample of the 'High Beam' highlighter. I've seen this a lot but never thought buying the full size product would be beneficial for me.

You also get a 2.5ml 'Posietint'. This is a lip and cheek stain. I've heard that these stains are actually really good and the colour looks really pretty too so I'm happy to try that!

Also you get a 2.5ml sample of the 'Stay don't Stray' concealer/eyeshadow primer. I've never tried nor considered a primer for my concealer but I suppose it's a good idea considering we use primer for our foundation. This comes in light/medium so I'm hoping it's going to be light enough for me but if I'm honest, I'm doubtful that it will be :(.

You get 2 different primers. A 7.5ml sample of 'That Gal' and a 7.5ml sample of 'The Porefessional' primer. I'm excited to try both of these out as I'm currently using the new Seventeen primer which although it is pretty good, it's not the best.

You get a 2.5g sample of the 'What's up' stick highlighter too. This actually looks like a really nice frosty colour winter highlight so I'm looking forward to trying this throughout all the Christmas party season.

The last three products are a 3.0g sample of the 'Hoola' bronzer. I don't usually use this bronzer but I'm looking forward to trying this because it's matte and I don't haev any completely matte bronzers and it's not too dark. It's a nice light/medium colour.

Next, there is a 6.5ml 'Ultra Plush' lipgloss in 'Hoola'. This looks quite like a bronze coloured lip gloss which isn't something I'd reach for under normal circumstances but I also have a feeling it'll be quite sheer so it might be nice with a more dramatic eye look.

Lastly, there is a 4.0g 'Badgal Lash' sample. I actually don't like the 'They're real' mascara from benefit so I'm hoping I like this one better!

So that's everything in the 'Little Love Potions' gift set by Benefit. The price of this set is £29.50 which you might consider a little hefty but if you think you're getting 10 products that's roughly £3.00 per item so it's not too bad if you think of it like that. I'd definitely pick this up if you want to try out a few Benefit products but don't really know where to start. You get a variety of things to experiment with for not too much money.

I also think it'd be a nice gift, I think it'd suit most people. The only things that might put you off are the shades of the Stay Don't Stray primer and the Hoola Bronzer but I do think they match the majority of people's skin tones.

You can view the item on the Debenhams website HERE and they currently have 10% off so it's £26.55 at the moment. Hurry hurry!

Anyway, that's everything, hope you enjoyed reading this!
See you next time,

A Chit Chat!

Hello Everyone!
How're you all doing?

I've just noticed that last month, October, I wrote a grand total of 6 posts. The most posts I've written in a month is 33. So, 6 is just not good enough. I knew when I went back to uni I wouldn't be able to write as much but I didn't think I'd just stop altogether either. I think it's a mixture of being back at uni, motivation and money really. I haven't been buying as much as usual because I've been spending money elsewhere, therefore I've had nothing new to talk about. When you write a beauty/review blog you have to have some sort of money for it otherwise you have nothing to talk about which is what's happened to me. That's why I kind of sneakily changed my blog to involve everything, lifestyle, beauty, fashion, reviews, and even just chats or recently I've written some programme reviews.

I do have a few bits and bobs to tell you about as well just to catch up. Firstly, I turn 21 in January. I can't actually believe it, I still feel about 17. The doctor asked me how old I was the other day and when I said I was 20 we were both as socked as each other. I do not feel 20. It's so weird. To celebrate my birthday, Tom and I are going to Berlin! we're going for 4 days over my birthday and I'm really really really looking forward to it. I've never been to Germany although my mum and her family lived there for sometime when she was growing up, I've never been. I can also speak some basic German from learning it as part of my degree so I'm interested in putting that to the test. And from what I've heard from my Nana (lol) Germany does Christmas/New Year/ that time of year exceptionally well!

I'd actually like to vlog the whole trip but I don't vlog or make YouTube videos so I should get some practise in before the event. What do you think? Even if I don't vlog I'll definitely have pictures for the blog!

Secondly, I had green hair on Halloween. Yep, green hair. You may remember me having purple ombre way back in July and since then I've been maintaining it with the Directions dyes and I've been using the John Frieda Sheer Blonde Shampoo and Conditioner. Do not do that. If you have any kind of colour in your hair, pink, purple, blue etc etc and you use that shampoo and conditioner to maintain your blonde stop using it.

My hairdresser told me to get the purple out she'd just bleach all the bottom of my hair to lift it and that worked fine except all the purple turned green. It was horrific. The purple was nowhere to be seen just the grass green that my hair had turned.  I had no idea the shampoo and conditioner would be strong enough to make something like that happen even though she had washed my hair before putting the bleach on. She mentioned something about the 'blue molecule' I don't really understand it but yeah, I had green hair. She kept applying bleach and heat because luckily I have strong hair so there wasn't any damage caused. Eventually after 5 lots of bleach, a hair dye, two days in the hairdressers and £70 it came out. There is still a hint of green but I think it's because I know it was there that I can see it more.

But all in all, it was a horrendous experience and I'll be staying away from the hairdressers for a while and I've told Tom that next time I want something crazy doing with my hair to just say no.

Thirdly, I've actually been quite ill over the last few months, I think I've got some kind of chronic sinus issues. I've been to the doctors and they've referred me to a specialist who's going to properly look at my sinuses and hopefully provide me with a cure. I just get horrible headaches constantly and no pain medication works and even Sudafed doesn't work. I have good days with it where I can actually concentrate and get things done and some days I can't even bend down to pick something up off the floor without my head just pounding. It's really horrible but hopefully that'll be sorted soon and I can get back to my normal self!

If anyone else had suffered with sinus problems let me know what works for you because I'm very interested!

So yeah that's about it really, I'm going to Berlin, I had green hair and I've been really ill. Nice.

I also made Hector a winter coat today... he looks so cute wearing it!

Hope you're all doing well!
Thanks for reading!
P.S. Has anyone been watching The Originals? I can't get enough of it!
P.P.S. Who has started their Christmas shopping? I have! Early bird catches the worm.

A Primark Haul! | Autumn/Winter 2013

Hello everyone!

Coming at you with a little Primark haul today! I bought these things about 2 weeks ago but it's just taken me a while to sort myself out, take the pictures and write the blog. I probably won't even finish this today if I'm being honest, I'm so easily distracted!

So the first thing I picked up was this vest top thing. I feel like 'vest top' isn't the right word but you get what I mean. They had this in the 'wine' colour that I bought and a teal green colour. I have to admit I almost bought the teal colour once because green's my favourite colour and I feel cheated when I don't buy the green variation of something but I thought this deep red colour was just so damn pretty. Also, I never wear red so I thought it'd be a nice change for the Christmas season. I bought a red-ish dress on this shopping trip so it was an unusual day for me.

I wasn't sure what I'd look like in this because it looks like it wouldn't cover your whole stomach and I'm not the sort to go out with my belly on show so I was a but dubious. When I tried it on though it looked fine, it did cover my belly thankfully and it just hangs really nicely. The material and the v-neck are really flattering. With some high waisted hot pants or skinny jeans I think this will look really, really nice. I might even go back for the teal one as it was only £5.00!

Next, I picked up this Christmas/Winter skirt. I have a bit of an obsession with layering a wooly jumper over the top of a skirt at the moment. It looks really cute and with some black tights and the boots that I showed you in my last Primark haul. So, yeah, that's winter addition to my skirt collection.. lol I don't really have a collection.

Price: £8.00

For my friend's 21st Birthday Party I bought this burgundy coloured skater style dress. Something about Primark clothes especially things like dresses never seem to look right on me. I don't know what it is they just look funny. It may be the sizes, it might be my shape,  I have no idea. But I saw this dress and took a bit of a shine to it so I took at size 10 and 12 to try on. I'm a size 10 but I think the sizes run a bit small in Primark, that's why I took the 12 too. I really didn't think it'd look nice at all but I was really pleasantly surprised.

The size 10 actually fit really nice. It's quite tight fitting but tight in the right places, and it looked really smart and flattering. Not too formal for a birthday night out but smart enough so that you don't feel like you're trying to dress younger than what you are. Do you know what I mean? I think the high neck line was something a little different from what I usually wear and I just really enjoyed wearing it.

Although the dress has sequins and sparkles you could definitely dress it down with a scarf and some boots for day time wear so I'm looking forward to seeing what else I can do with this dress. They also had it in a navy blue colour with was also really nice.

Price: £13.00

To pair with my dress, I bought this chunky necklace. It's made of silver and dark grey metal with some large gems or whatever you'd like to call them. As the dress I wore was just one block colour with quite a high neck line I thought a bigger and more bold necklace would break it up a bit and add some extra sparkle! I love this necklace but if you're one of them who jumps up and down a lot when you're dancing your ass off...watch your face, it will get you!

Price: £5.00

And that's everything I bought from Primark. Well that's a lie actually, I also bought some 120 denier tights but who wants to see a pair of boring black tights?! They are lovely to wear if you're wondering and they were £3.00.

So that's all folks!
Thanks for reading, see you next time.
