Favourite YouTubers | Jan 2014

Hello everyone, happy Friday!

Hope you're all okay and ready for the weekend! I'm so ready for the weekend, I always am but I have an essay to write this weekend so it's going to be a bit of a chore :( I hope yours is more eventful than mine! Do you have any interesting plans?

Truth be told, I didn't have anything scheduled for this Friday. I was going to write a little haul post but I'm waiting for a few things in the post and would like to include them. I didn't have any products pre-photographed for a review but I really didn't want to miss out on a full month of posting every day, on the last day too that'd be a shame.

So after looking through my drafts I decided to show you my Top 5 YouTubers! I watch quite a few people on YouTube but these are the people who I'll watch as soon as they've uploaded something! The people who I eagerly await a new video from... I'm sure you have your favourites too!

1. Miss Budget Beauty

I love all three of her channels, I think the new Spendaholic channel is great and I totally miss her vlogs from her MeetTheMcCools channel. Mikhila has announced that she will vlog intermittently throughout the year but it's not going to be every other month like it was in 2013. I absolutely see where she's coming from, it must be hard work videoing, editing, uploading several videos on top of blogging, her other job and running a house. But from a selfish point, I do miss having something to watch every night haha.

Regardless, I love her videos, I have done for years and will continue to.

2. MammaFulZo

This is a new channel find! I can't take all the credit because I found Zoe through watching MissBudgetBeauty's videos. I don't know about you but I love long videos. I usually watch YouTube videos at night and I enjoy nothing more than sitting there watching videos for hours on end. It's like TV for me, I don't really watch Television so this is my version of that. If you're a fan of long videos, you should subscribe to MammaFulZo's channel!

This is more of a beauty/lifestyle channel sometime's the videos are makeup related, sometimes they're more chatty. And Zoe always replies to your comments, she's such a lovely lady.

3. Beauty Broadcast

Emily is another YouTuber who has several channels, all of which I enjoy. She has a vlog channel called BeautyVlogCast and another beauty channel called BeautyBroadcastExpress! I love these channels for the reviews, Emily always writes really good, insightful reviews. She tells you about the item but doesn't waffle on about needless stuff. I also love her Get Ready With Me videos, I wish there was more of them!

4. BeautyCrush

This is a channel I have been subscribed to for ages but never used to watch the videos. Recently though I have been watching them and really enjoying them. I think I've grown to really love her style, clothing and accessory wise, I really like everything she wears! She's quite the inspiration these days!

5. It's Em

I've just had a mini panic thinking Emma had deleted her channel but she must have changed the name of it from MeetTheMillards to It's Em. I have no idea why but it unsubscribed me! :o

Anyway, this is another recent channel find, Emma is so lovely, I really enjoy her vlogs and makeup videos although I think the haul videos are my favourite, I think hauls are my favourite videos of everyone to watch haha!

And that's everyone, I am subscribed to a lot of other channels but these are the ones I really enjoy watching at the moment!

Who are your favourite YouTubers?

A YouTube video I watched of someone called Mammafulzo. If you watch her videos you'll probably know where I'm coming from.

Piano

44. Favourite piece of jewellery?

45. Last sport you played?
This question made me laugh!

46. Last song you sang?
Probably something silly on Smooth radio in Tom's car...
But thinking back now Top Gun was on the other night and if I remember rightly I did some breath taking singing then...

47. Favourite chat up line?
I really can't think of a funny one! I did hear a rather vulgar Subway related chat up line on a night out once. I'll just let you use your imagination there.

48. Have you ever used it?
I have never used one, no.

49. Last time you hung out with someone?

I'd also like to tag Tom, he recently made a photography blog so I think this would be a nice and easy tag for him! :D

Holmfirth, West Yorkshire Vlog & Jewellery Haul!

Hello everyone!
My Mum has Thursdays off work and I have Thursdays off university so that's the one day in the week that we usually go shopping or go for a sauna or visit somewhere. A couple of weeks ago, we went to Holmfirth for the day, I was on the hunt for a black stoned ring and my Mum had bought a ring herself from a little shop in Holmfirth a couple of years ago so we went for a mooch around there hoping to find a ring that I liked!
I took a few pictures and some videos of us driving there which you can see below. I wanted to record the whole day but I just felt a bit funny whipping my camera out! So I didn't! Also, I've included some pictures of the rings I bought!

We stopped at a place called Compo's Cafe for dinner. Anyone ever been there? It's really nice, I had fish and chips and it was awesome!

I found two rings I liked from a little shop called Jiana Jewellery. I first saw the black ring which I loved and decided I was definitely going to buy. Then I saw the green/blue colour and decided that was coming home with me too!

The stone in this one is called 'Labradorite', it's beautiful and looks different colours in particular lights. Sometimes it looks blue, sometimes it looks green, I really like it. The stone isn't as big as the black one but I just knew I'd get some wear out of it!

This was £15.00

This is the black ring, I absolutely love it! It looks good on it's own or paired with other rings and I've worn it pretty much everyday since I bought it! The stone is called 'Black Star Ossidian' and it's just a deep jet black colour. I wish I'd polished the ring before I took the picture as it looks a bit messy. Trust me, it looks shiny in real life haha!

This one was £22.00

So that was my day! We hunted around a few shops but Jiana Jewellery was definitely the best one. The lady who owned the shop was so lovely and helpful picking out ring sizes! I'd definitely go back in there again if I go back to Holmfirth!

You can see below a less-than-one-minute vlog of the car journey:

Hope you enjoyed reading this/watching the video, let me know if you'd like to see more vlogs (obviously including more than just a car journey lol).

eBay iPhone Lens Review | Macro, Fish Eye & Wide Angle.

Hello everyone!

I thought I'd write a little review of the lenses I recently bought from eBay which I mentioned in THIS haul post. I've been using them occasionally over the last few weeks so I thought I'd let you know what I think and show you a few pictures!

Macro Lens:

Grim weather in them photos I know!

My favourite lens is the Macro lens, not because it's the best performing lens (they all perform very well) but the macro one is the one I use most. It's so good at capturing things in detail. Better than my camera by far. When you put it on, it's blurry, you have to be extremely close to the item you're photographing for it to focus. It comes in very handy for my blog!

The Fish Eye lens is probably great for recording landscapes. It includes so much more of the view than just a normal camera, as you can see from the comparisons above. I'd have loved to have had this in Berlin. I could have recorded some really cool videos and took some good photos but I'll definitely take it on my next trip, where ever that may be.

I also like the Wide Angle lens, I don't know whether it's just the way I was holding the phone or not but there seems to still be a slight curve in the shot even thought it's not a fish eye lens. As you can see though it does include significantly more of the view than just a normal camera.

Overall, when you're using the fish eye and wide angle lenses, I do think you loose a little quality. The pictures aren't as clear as the normal camera. However, you get a lot more view in the photograph and they're a lot easier to use than the panorama settings on my iPhone. The lenses are small and compact, easy to use and can be quickly attached to your phone. (I had to work quickly to get that picture of the ladybird before it flew away!).

One thing I'm not overly keen on is that they are magnets. You have to stick a magnetic ring around your camera for them to stick on. I was a bit concerned about this leaving glue on my phone but so far it hasn't. Also, if you have a case on your phone you have to remove that when you want to use the lenses as the magnets aren't strong enough to hold them on through the case. Another thing is that I think the magnetic ring was designed for an iPhone 5s as it doesn't properly fit on my 5c, it overlaps a little at the top. Having said all that, these are all problems with the style not really with the photos and lenses themselves which work excellently well! I think anyone with a smart phone could benefit from these lenses, especially if you take a lot of photos, they're fun to work with and create interesting and unique photos.

Price: £7.99
You can buy from the same seller as me from eBay HERE.

How to de-clip your curlers!

Hello everyone!

Today I thought I'd show you a quick and simple trick to remove the clip from your curlers. By 'clip' I mean the part that you push back to wrap your hair around the barrel then release to clip your hair in place. I don't know whether it's because I've only ever used a normal barrel curler that I can't use curlers with clips but they just don't work for me and the majority of the time the clip just leaves a kink in my hair anyway!

I did try to use these with the clip on but ended up burning my neck! I've never burnt myself on a hair tool before so I think we can clarify that curlers with clips are not for me.

There is however, a simple solution to this problem as with the majority of curlers you can actually remove the clip quite easily.

Here's how you do it.

**Seek parental advise if you're not sure**
**Make sure they are UNPLUGGED before you attempt this**
**Be Careful**

So first of all, you need to remove the stand. Usually you just have to pull this out. Then you have to use a screw driver to remove the two screws on the side of the curler. Once you've removed them you should be able to take the clip off altogether. You'll be left with just the final screw and the spring. Remove the final screw making sure you hold on to the barrel carefully.

Once you have put the spring to one side you need to replace the last screw as that's the one which holds the iron to the handle.

It's up to you whether you reattach the two side screws. I didn't because they stuck out a bit and I knew my hair would get caught around them. If the iron begins to come loose though turn the curlers off immediately!

You should now be left with just a normal barrel curling iron.

In my opinion this makes them much more easier to use and as long as you have one of them heat gloves you should be good to go! No more burnt necks!

Let me know how you got on if you attempted this.
You may have to tweak the instructions a little if your curlers are different to these but you can definitely take the clip off most of them!

P.S. I deleted my mysteriousneonlights Instagram page because I was having a few problems with it. I am going to make another one in the next few days or so but if you're wondering why the links aren't working that's why. Not to worry though, there will be a new Instagram soon!

P.P.S Sorry for the poor quality of the photos! these were taken on my phone in dark lighting!

A rather large beauty haul | MAC, NARS, Origins, Maybelline...

Hello everyone!

I have a rather large makeup haul for you today! I was going to split it up in to a few different posts but I decided against it. I love reading long hauls and I can't be the only one! So sit tight, get yourself a brew, it's going to be a long one!

I didn't buy all these things in one go if you're wondering. I bought them over about four or five shopping trips. I've been saving them up for this post. I have another beauty post too which you can see HERE if you want. That one has mostly body products in it over makeup!

So let's get cracking!

First, we'll tackle Selfridges. I've been trying to buy things mainly off the Beauty Wishlist I made a few weeks ago. So far I've done pretty well so you'll see a few things off that in this post! Firstly, I bought this NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil. I have it in the shade Red Square. In my wishlist post I said I wanted the shade Pop Life but when I went to the counter I really didn't like that shade. It looked so different to how it looked online so I'm glad I didn't pre order it.

I settled on this shade in the end. I liked the Dragon Girl shade too but that was out of stock and I have quite a few deep pink/red shades. This is more orange toned and I don't have anything like it so I'm pleased that I bought this one. I tried it on in the shop and just really loved it. Very nice and I can see it being my 'go to' in the Spring/Summer!

At £17.50 it kind of hurt to part with the money for this but I suppose it was birthday money and everyone deserves a little bit of luxury, don't they? I just hope I don't get too addicted to these and decide I need to buy more shades....

NARS VELVET MATTE LIP PENCIL (Selfridges website but the colour must not be in stock).
NARS VELVET MATTE LIP PENCIL (On NARS Website).

Also from Selfridges I picked up the MAC lipstick in 'All Fired Up'. You do not know the lengths I went to to have this lipstick! I've been looking for it for weeks but it's been out of stock everywhere! I tried the MAC in the airport, the MAC in Berlin, MAC in the Trafford Centre and the MAC in Selfridges in Manchester numerous times. They must have thought I was mad the amount of times I've been in asking for it!

Eventually, I saw it was back in stock on the Selfridges website and ordered it to collect the next day! I'm happy that I have it now :D

The Selfridges Click and Collect service is pretty good, you can order items for pick up the next day (depending on the time you order them I think), they come well packaged (hence the HUGE bag they gave me for a tiny lipstick) and they give you some samples too, I got two perfume samples. The only problem I had was when I opened the lipstick it had been knocked about a bit so it has a few dents in it unfortunately. It's not broken, it just makes my pictures look less professional! A bit disappointing for something that costs £15.00. However if I'd payed the extortionate £4.95 delivery I'd have been very peeved.

Moving on to Boots, I picked up three of the Maybelline Colour Show limited addition nail polishes. The shades are: Urban Vibe, White Splatter and Boom Box Black. I've tried the purple and green ones and so far I really like them. I always use a base colour and apply these over that and they look really cool. I'll write some posts on them soon!

I have a friend in my Linguistics class who comments on how nice my nails are so I have a strange need to keep bettering them so I don't disappoint her one week....

These are £3.99 each and I believe Maybelline have a 3 for 2 deal on at the moment too!

Sticking on the topic of nails but straying over to Top Shop. I picked up these nail wraps in the sale. I've never used nail wraps before so I don't know what to expect, I'm just going to give them a go and see what they're like!

Two sets were only £1.00 and the other two sets were £3.00.

(I can't find these links unfortunately)

I caved and picked up the new Maybelline Baby Skin Primer. I'm always on the look out for a new primer and I'd heard that this one was silicone based which is my favourite kind of primer. For £7.99 for 22ml I thought WHY NOT. I picked up the last one and ran away to the till with it before someone could pinch it from me! :D

I also picked up this Colour Tattoo in the shade Metallic Pomegranate. This would be a prime example of the 'blogger made me buy it' thing. This has been cropping up in people's posts and videos over the last few weeks and when I saw that the shade was in stock I picked it up. Rarely are the shades I want in stock so I took it as a 'meant to be' moment. (Only joking, I don't believe in that shizzle).

But yes, I'm looking forward to using it and if I ever buy the Naked 3 palette I think this would be a nice base for the shadows in that. Not 100% yet as to whether I'll buy it though.

I now have four colour tattoos! Building up quite the collection. I do wish they would bring out some matte shades though!

Price: £4.99 - LINK

Once upon time when I was leisurely perusing the aisles of Boots I saw this palette on it's own little stand in the distance. Glancing at the price I saw a '50% off marked price' sign and naturally, I picked up speed. As I was approaching the palette they were being taken off the shelf like gold dust. I even saw a few guys picking them up (obviously their girlfriend's have them very well trained) my brain was panicking that I wouldn't get their in time but not wanting to look like a madman I controlled myself and only broke in to a fast stride. At the stand, there was about five left when I arrived. Then off I went proudly clutching my very own Soap & Glory Eyes Box which cost only a mere £8.00.

- Diary of a makeup-aholic, 2014.

All joking aside though, for £8.00 this was an excellent deal. I'm not familiar with Soap & Glory cosmetics but I really want to be. This set includes 6 eyeshadows, a mascara, an eyeliner kohl and a brush which for £8.00 is a steal. Don't you agree?

Sleek recently had a buy one get one half price deal across their range so I thought that was the perfect opportunity to pick up a few new blushes. I've been on the verge of picking up one of the trio sets but to be honest, I can't see one of them being something I would reach for every day so I settled on these two shades: Rose Gold and Flamingo.

Both are beautiful and very highly pigmented. I haven't used them on my face yet as I've been saving them for pictures but I'll let you know how I get one when I have done!

These blushes are £4.49.

On that same day, another deal was happening over at Revlon. Two lip products for £10.00. Considering the Lip Butters are usually £7.99 each, I thought that was a good deal and took the opportunity to buy the other two shades I liked. Those are Wild Watermelon and Sorbet.

These are the only other two shades I like so I don't think I'll be picking up and more Lip Butters in the near future. I do however really like their jumbo stick things so I might get some of those.

I've only used the watermelon shade up to now which is a nice muted red. It's nice for them days that you feel like wearing a red lippy but can't be bothered maintaining it all day. Perfect for my uni days!

Two mascara purchases happened recently. The new MaxFactor Excess Volume Extreme Impact Mascara and the L'Oreal Mega Volume Miss Manga mascara. As I've mentioned in the past, it's rare that I don't pick up MaxFactor's new releases which is why I bought this new mascara BUT I think this just combines two of their already available mascaras. I'm not 100% sure but I'll be a bit disappointed if that's the case.

The L'Oreal one I bought out of pure curiosity, I love volumised lashes and wanted to see how good it really was. I have been using it but I'm not giving anything away as I'll be writing a review soon!

MaxFactor Mascara: £9.99 - LINK
L'Oreal Mascara: £8.99 - LINK

On to the last few bits now, I picked up the Origins Super Spot Remover after having some skin issues recently. It was another item on my wishlist and I just impulsively bought it really. £14.00 is a bit pricy but I saw a quote not too long ago which said something like, if you're willing to spend more on your handbag than on your skin then something's not right.

Thoroughly agreeing with that I decided to pull out the big guns and get this.

I will warn you though.. computers lie... on the Boots website this looked a lot bigger. It's teeny!

Last but not least, I'm sure you're not that interested in a can of Batiste but I wanted to include the Plumping Powder I've bought after months of eyeing it up and not taking it home. I'll write a little review on this soon, it's a very weird product!

So I hope that filled all your haul needs on this Saturday afternoon!

Have you tried any of these products? What are your opinions?

Thanks for reading,
See you next time,
Leanne x

P.S. Did anyone watch the new Originals episode? It was soooooo good! I missed it so much over Christmas! How sad am I? haha!
