Miss Sporty | Oh My Gem | Gorgeous Red

Hello everyone!

I have a review of Miss Sporty's 'Gorgeous Red' nail polish today. Miss Sporty isn't a brand I'm too familiar with to be honest and I've only ever tried two or three products from their line in the past which have all been nail polishes too! I've never had a bad experience with the polishes though so I might have to branch out to the makeup in the future...

My mum actually picked this shade out, I had two Barry M polishes and couldn't decide on a third for the 3 for 2 offer and she suggested this. I'm so glad she did because I've been really enjoying it.

It's a bright, post box red colour with red and pink sparkles in it. I think it looks so pretty and different from the usual silver/gold sparkle. I wish I had this on Valentines Day as it would have been very fitting! However, it does look lovely and bright in the summer too.

This is a very opaque shade upon application, I only applied two generous coats to achieve the colour in the pictures. With one coat it looks much more pink.

It kind of looks like a gel polish when it's applied because it's quite thick. I found that it didn't chip too easily though and compared to the Barry M polishes and China Glaze which definitely need a top coat to stop them chipping, this did extremely well on its own.

Although I love how pretty this is on my fingernails, I also applied this to my toe nails and I love it! It looks so good on toes. I like red on toe nails anyway but something about the finish and the sparkle makes it look really pretty!

They also had an orange sparkly polish which I nearly bought and kind of regret not getting as it will look lovely throughout the summer. I'm sure I'll pick it up next time.

The only downfall of this product for me is how little the bottles are. I feel like it will run out really quickly. On the other hand, these only cost £1.99 so they don't break the bank to replace.

Have you ever tried anything from Miss Sporty? I feel like it is a brand that gets overlooked!

Thanks for reading,
See you next time,

Primark, Debenhams and Forever 21 Haul!

Hello everyone!

Guess what? I went to Primark woooo :D I haven't been for a while so I always like to look at the new stock, they seem to change it quite frequently. I also bought some bits from Debenhams and Forever 21.

So with summer in the air (probably not for long) I picked up quite a few summery pieces!

Hope you enjoy!

First, Primark

This caught my eye because of the print! It's so summery and colourful. It reminds me of a top I bought from New Look which you can see HERE. In fact they had a tank top style in the exact same print as the New Look crop top!

This was £5.00

This next tank top I bought because coral/pink seems to be the colour that's catching my eye the most at the moment! Also, it has zebras on it :D

£4.00

I bought two pairs of 'summery' coloured pants. I keep seeing people in coral coloured jeans and I think they look really nice so I jumped on the bandwagon.

Blue: £7.00
Coral: £8.00

Jellies! Oh the primary school memories!
When I saw these in the shops I knew I'd have to get some for summer. I've seen these in New Look for £15.00 and River Island for about £18.00.

These were only £6.00 and they look exactly the same.

When the sunglasses are only £1 you can afford some variety, yes?

I bought some orange and purple ones, a tortoise-shell style which remind me of my Top Shop glasses which got scratched :( And I bought another pair of blue glasses for Tom.

Lastly from Primark, I picked up this Accessory Hanger. I see these all the time, debate buying one, never do then wish I had when I get home. So this time I bought one, I plan to hang all my scarves on it.

This was £2.00

On to Debenhams

Whilst getting ready to go out shopping I realised that my handbag was pretty wintery. As Debenhams had a sale on I browsed the handbags and found this!

It's a pastel pink bag, quite large and such soft leather, it's so pretty.

It also has a really pretty pattern on the inside, as the Mantaray range usually does.

This was £17.50 in the sale.

I also found these sandals and became obsessed with them immediately. They're so basic but not... Do you know what I mean?

Even though my feet don't like between the toe shoes, these are extremely soft so I'm hoping they'll be okay.

These were around £23.00 in the sale.

Lastly, Forever 21

I keep seeing these really basic v-neck tops everywhere and I think they're really nice. The only thing is they're so expensive for what they are. Does anyone agree?

They had some really lovely ones in Top Shop for about £12.00 and I just thought I'm not paying £12 for a plain t-shirt.

However, I spied these on the Forever 21 website and decided to pick a few up. How often do you order something online and it's exactly what you want? Not often but these are pretty close!

I bought the colours 'Pink'

'Seagrass' (I think!)

And 'Oatmeal'

I did want white but they didn't have just a white one. They didn't have black either though soo...

I bought these in a size M so they would be a bit baggy and they fit great and I'm usually a size 10. Incase you're wondering :)

These were £4.75 each.

Next, I picked up this aztec style tank top. I thought this would look nice with some denim shorts.

This was £5.00.

Last but not least, I bought this neon orange top. I have to admit, it looked nicer on the website but I do still like it for what it is :)

Plus, this was only about £4.00 so I can't complain haha!

So, that's everything, I feel prepped and ready for summer!

Lush Lip Scrub | Bubblegum

Hello everyone!

This post has been a long time coming. I bought Lush's Bubblegum Lip Scrub a while ago and I have been using it quite frequently since then. The review seemed to keep getting put on the back burner, however, I decided I'd better write it soon otherwise my sister may just finish of eating it....

Yep, you read that right, she eats it. I don't mean after she's used it on her lips as a lot of people tend to do, I mean she gets some out of the tub and just eats it. It is very strange behaviour.

Anyway, on with the review!

I know a lot of people buy this particular scent / flavour and when I went to buy mine I intended on getting a different scent. However, there was only one other choice (I'm not sure if that applies everywhere but in this particular Lush there were only two choices). Unfortunately I didn't like the other scent at all, so much so that I couldn't have ever put it anywhere near my face, so I had to buy this one.

It's extremely sweet, very accurately bubblegum flavoured and its hot pink colour does make it look like something to eat. I'm not an eater, personally, I just scrub it off afterwards.

Ingredients included.
Admittedly, I was sceptical, I really didn't think it would be everything it's made out to be. On the contrary, it really is worth the £5-ish price tag. Unless of course you feel like a bit of DIY work as I've seen many a recipe on Pinterest which explain how to make something similar yourself, it looks rather simple.

I find that after applying this, leaving it for a few minutes, rubbing my lips together for a bit then taking it off, I notice a significant change in the texture of my lips. It really does smooth everything out, diminish dead skin and replenish the overall feel of my lips.

My initial purchase was after buying some rather expensive lip products around my birthday and I can say that I'm really glad I did. Particularly where matte, drying products are concerned you will really benefit from using this to even out your lips beforehand.

Drawbacks of this item are that it's quite messy to actually get out of the tub, if you have long nails you may benefit from using one of them little spatulas for getting product out of tubs. Also, the product is messy to apply, it tends to drop everywhere whilst you're rubbing it in. I would recommend that you wear PJs or something when you use it to avoid ruining your clothes. Also, I wish there was a wider choice in scents.

Other than that, I have really enjoyed this product and when it runs out I think it is likely that I will repurchase it. (And hide it so my sister doesn't eat it).

Have you tried the Lush Lip Scrub?
Do you have a lip scrub that could rival Lush's?

Hope this was helpful,
See you next time,
Leanne x

Thoughts of the Day
  • I'm currently watching Pirates Of The Caribbean Dead Man's Chest on TV... Don't be surprised if there are any accidental quotes within this review ahhaha. BA LIKI LIKI!!
  • My face is a nightmare at the moment. My T-Zone is really oily and my cheeks are SO dry, as in, they feel scaly they're that dry. I don't know what to do with it!
  • I had a side fringe cut in a few days ago and I'm resenting it more by the day. Why do I do this to myself?
  • Is anyone else going to miss The Originals and TVD as much as me when they end next week? WHAT WILL I DO WITH MY TIME?
  • I'd love to hear what everyone's favourite type of blog post is? What do you really enjoy reading? For me, I think it might be hauls...

The April Haul! (Beauty, Fashion, Random)

Hello everyone!
How are you?

Today I'm going to show you the bits and pieces I've picked up over the last month or so. I didn't really get many posts written throughout April so this is a collective post. There are some beauty things, clothing and storage so it's a little random :)

Also, some of these things I've already had and have been using for a while so don't be surprised if you see reviews on them pretty soon. Anyway, let's crack on...

I picked up The Balm's Shady Lady Vol.1 palette from Debenhams a few weeks ago. It was in the Blue Cross Sale and it was discounted to only £11.00! I'd been eyeing it up online for £25.00 so I'm glad I waited. This is my first ever product from The Balm and so far I'm really impressed.

The colours are really pretty and wearable, there are no matte shades though which might put some people off. Other than that, I've been really enjoying this palette.

My favourite shades so far are the three on the bottom row.

(Unfortunately I can't find The Balm on Debenhams website. And this particular palette isn't on Feel Unique. I've linked to The Balm just incase you wanted some extra info though).

I've picked up two skin care products.

The first is the Garnier Moisture Match Revitalising Hydrating Gel. There are lots of different types of this moisturiser so I went with the one that is aimed at healthier looking, luminous skin. So far this has been working great and I think I'll try some other kinds in the future.

The next thing, also from Garnier, is their 5 Sec Perfect Blur primer. This is usually pretty pricy but I bought it on offer for about £8.00. This has been my go to primer since I bought it as it smooths and mattifies really well.

Both these products work well together too.

I'm on the hunt for a good texturising item. I've tried the Charles Worthington spray that everyone loves so much and although it works well I don't like the sticky feeling it leaves in my hair. However, I'm beginning to think the sticky-ness is inevitable :(

This is a little different as you're supposed to apply it on wet hair as it's a wet formula as opposed to the spray kind. I've not properly trailed this yet but you can look forward to a review soon!

On my hunt to find a replacement Collection Shade 1 Concealer (never in stock anywhere) I had to give in and try something else. My Collection concealer was getting dangerously close to the end so I picked up this Revlon Colour Stay Concealer in the hopes that it will do the job. It's a little darker than the collection one though which is disappointing.

Next, I picked up a few new nail polish things over the last few weeks. I bought two Barry M polishes whilst in Superdrug, the first being 'Birthday Superdrug' which is a special polish released to celebrate 50 years of Superdrug. It's a hot pink colour with multi-coloured glitter.

The next shade from Barry M is 'Mediterranean' which is a rose gold oil spill effect polish. It's really pretty but I found it was more gold than pink when applied.

The next polish is from Maybelline and it's just a shiny top coat, it helps my China Glaze polishes stay around for a few more days but I do have my eye on a Sally Hansen topcoat.

I also bought a polish from Miss Sporty as they were on 3 for 2 when I bought the two Barry M shades. This is called 'Gorgeous Red' (I think) and when applied it looks extremely similar to the Superdrug Barry M shade despite it looking more red in the bottle. I think I actually prefer the Miss Sporty shade too.

Last but not least, I won a giveaway a few weeks ago which was hosted on Amblog. This is the white shatter polish from China Glaze and I have a post coming soon with a nail look I created with it :)

Above are the swatches of the polishes, as you can see the two pinks are pretty similar.

At an event that Tom was working at there was a Bare Minerals counter offering samples of their Lash Domination Mascara so he picked me up two samples! I'm yet to try them but I'm excited to find out whether it's really worth investing in a high-end mascara as so far I haven't been convinced.

While we're on samples, I asked for a sample of the Estee Lauder Double Ware. I was intending on just buying the full bottle but I decided to simmer down and try a sample before spending all that money. I have two samples because the first counter I went to didn't have the shade I was matched to but the lady sent me to a different counter to get the one I actually needed which was really helpful.

I've tried the light shade once and I did like it but my skin was having a really bad time which didn't help the staying power so I'm going to try it again when my skin is in better form!

On to some clothes!

I needed something to wear for a night out and when I saw this top in New Look I instantly loved it. I've never worn one of these short crop top styles before but with my high waisted black pants it looked fine and no belly was on show thankfully!

I also bought this dress from Bank. I was going to wear it for my night out but opted for the top instead. I liked this dress too much to send back though so I'll have to make plans for it in the future!

From River Island I bought this slouchy cardigan having washed my old cream cardigan with something dark which turned it green :(

This is quite long but it's very comfortable and will definitely come in useful throughout summer when I just want something light in the evenings.

(I can't find a link for this online unfortunately)

I saw this acrylic lipstick holder on eBay for only £2.89! Considering this kind of thing usually costs about £12.00 I ordered it straight away. It did come from China though so I had to wait about two weeks for it but, in all honesty, I'd rather wait two weeks than pay excessive amounts!

Also, I picked up a new makeup back from River Island in the sale for £7.00! It's so colourful and sparkly that I just had to buy it. It has a mirror on the back and is large enough to fit all my everyday makeup in it! Isn't it pretty?

(Not the same pattern but the same design)

Last but not least I treated myself to a new Yankee Candle. I'm currently burning Vanilla Lime but sometimes you just fancy a bit of variety, don't you? So I bought the scent Fireside Treats from eBay after hearing some good reviews and when it arrived I was really pleased with how sweet yet not over powering it is :)

Click HERE to buy from the same seller.

So that's everything I've picked up over the last month!

Have you been treating yourself to any goodies recently?
I've seriously got my eye on the pre made 15 shade cool MAC palette :|
