How to make day 5 hair look good..

Hello everyone!

Today's post is going to be explaining how I make day 5 hair not just look acceptable but night out kinda acceptable.

I don't like to wash my hair more than once a week. (I'll just give you a moment to pick your jaw up off the floor) Truth is, my hair doesn't really get greasy quickly, I don't know why but even when it feels greasy it doesn't really looks greasy.

Anyway, my friend and I were going on a last minute night out and I was on day 5 hair. Didn't really want to wash it because I knew I'd be washing it the day after and I'm just not up for washing it two days in a row.

So here's how I made my day 5 hair look night out appropriate...

Please excuse me for not putting my face in the pics. I had no makeup on and, really, nobody wants to see that haha.

So the above picture is the 'before'. This is the remainder of the curls put in for my graduation last Thursday.

The first thing I did was separate my fringe and put the rest back in a bun.

Then I washed just the fringe. It took about 5 minutes to wash and dry just my fringe whereas it can take me about an hour and a half to wash, dry and straighten my whole head of hair. So maybe now you know why I don't wash it regularly. Too. Much. Effort.

Anyway, I think that if the front of your hair looks good then it lifts the rest too.

As you can see, we're already looking better!

The next thing I did was spritz some dry shampoo on my roots and brush my hair out.

You could just leave it there if you wanted to, but as I was going out I gave my hair a blast with the hairdryer to give it some volume and added some curls with a big round brush.

The whole process took about half an hour. But if you don't do the last bit it would take probably less than 10 minutes.

And that's it! That's how I make day 5 hair look good :D

Hope this was helpful!

Graduation Photo Diary | 2014!

Hello everyone!

Today I thought I'd show you some pictures from my graduation. It was on Thursday 24th July and it was amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed getting dressed up and I so wish I could have kept the cap and gown because they were so cool.

I'm sad that university is over, it's gone so quickly but I'm looking forward to starting my new job, meeting new people and I'm hoping to start a Masters degree once I've got enough money behind me to pay for it! (So university life isn't totally over hahaha)

I hope you will enjoy having a look through some pics! If you graduated this year I hope you had a wonderful day too :)

Thoughts of the day!
  • Apparently today is the last day of nice weather for us in Manchester. Rain tomorrow and Monday :(
  • My new found love is Desperados with Lime! Yum Yum.
  • Returned all the potential graduation dresses to ASOS this morning. Really happy with the one I wore, it is such a pretty dress!
  • Went to the hairdressers for a wash and blow dry for my graduation. Bloody £20 it cost me! £20 for a wash and blow!! Could have done it as home for free! That's what I get for being lazy I suppose.
  • I'm now going to give Hector a bath... see you next time!

Haul! Ft. Primark, Dorothy Perkins, TKMaxx, Boots.

Hello everyone!

I have a haul post for you today. A few things I've picked up recently mostly with my graduation in mind (which you'll have already seen by now) along with some sale items, beauty bits and prep for when I start work!

So let's start with Primark!

I always see blog posts where people are sporting really pretty rings from Primark so I decided I was going to have a browse this time. I bought two sets, one gold and one silver and I'm really happy with them.

Both sets were only £1.50 and each come with at least 5 rings.

I know cheap jewellery tends to go a funny colour but does anyone remember THIS POST? How to stop rings from making your fingers green!

Works a treat ;)

The next thing I bought were these shoes. I saw them and really liked the colour. I also enjoy that they are suede and the little gold detailing. These will be great multitasking shoes, they could be worn throughout a normal day or for work or even on a night out!

These were £6.00.

Next, I randomly picked up this top from the Dorothy Perkins sale. My sister loves palm trees so she spotted it and I just decided that I liked it! This was in the sale for £7.00 and I think it will look nice with some high waisted pants. Very much looking forward to wearing this!

From boots I picked up some skin care items. I bought an Apricot Scrub from St.Ives after watching Lex from MadeYewLookTwice from YouTube talk about her skin care routine. She has excellent looking skin and I aspire to have skin that looks that good. I still have some things on my list that I need to buy to complete my routine but I felt I was missing this scrub.

I know Apricot scrubs aren't good for your skin on a daily basis. However, once a week of biweekly I think this will help my weird, patchy skin.

I've used it once up to now and I have to say it's very rough. BUT my skin felt softer than ever after using it...

I bought the Naturally Clear version and it was on offer for about £2.50.

Next, I jumped on the blogger bandwagon. Everyone raves about the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water and when I saw it on offer I decided that was the best time to try it. I shall review it soon... unless you feel you've seen too many haha let me know in the comments!

I also bought three new nail polishes with my graduation in mind. I always buy Barry M polishes in threes as they always seem to be on 3 for 2!

Anyway, I got the shades Sugar Apple, Almond and Mint Green.

These were £3.99

Lastly, from TKMaxx I bought a water bottle and a lunch box. I know, exciting!

I've been wanting a cool water bottle to motivate me to drink more water, you know the novelty of having a water bottle is very inspiring hahaha. Not only that, it will be good for taking to work with me when I start.

This is by the brand Oggi and seems to be pretty decent. I may even write a review one day ;)

This was only £4.99 which I thought was great as the ones I saw online were more like £12.99.

My sister spotted this cool lunchbox which was also £4.99. It has little sections at the top for individual foods, a little pot for your sauce and a collapsable knife and fork! You can't tell me that's not cool!

I plan to take salads and sandwiches and things like that so I think this will do well. I do need to buy a few more though so I can have a few going at once.

I hope you enjoyed this random ramble!

Thanks for reading!
Hope you're having a fab day :)

Graduation Outfit!

Hello everyone!

Today is my graduation day woo :D I've been excited and nervous about this occasion but I'm hoping that everything goes smoothly. My outfit has been some cause of stress though. For some reason I just couldn't find a dress that I liked. I had been shopping a few times and saw nothing that was appropriate so I resorted to online shopping and found the perfect one!

I bought this on ASOS for £22.00 with free delivery. I was mostly drawn to the colour of it and the chiffon style. When it arrived I was so pleased with it and knew it would fit the occasion and match the colours of my gown.

It's got silver sequins around the neckline which eliminates my need to buy a necklace. And it adds something extra to what would be a very simple dress.

Also from ASOS, I bought these suede shoes for £16.00. I'd been having a mental debate about whether I was going to wear heels of not and decided that I wasn't. I originally was definitely going to wear heels, then I got nervous and decided to take flats for the stage bit then I just decided to buy a nice, dressy pair of flats and wear them!

I really love these, they're from London Rebel and although I'm not usually a fan of pointed shoes I think they look a little more sophisticated that way. I also love the part that goes around the ankle.

I took this picture yesterday after I'd finished my nails! I saw a picture on Twitter of similar nails and decided to recreate that. I used the shades:

Barry M Nail Gelly -  Sugar Apple
Essie - Beyond Cozy
Barry M Nail Gelly - Almond

The rings are from Primark!

So that is my attire. I'll definitely write a follow up post with pictures of me actually wearing the dress with my hair done and everything! And of course a picture with one of them cool caps graduates wear... one of the main reasons I went to university was to have a picture in one of them hats!

Hope you're all having a good day!

Essence Makeup Haul!

Hello everyone!

I recently discovered that the Arndale in Manchester had acquired an interesting new stand. A new makeup stand! I've heard of the brand Essence before but I always thought it was American... it's actually a German brand which I was more shocked by as I never saw the brand when I was in Berlin. Maybe I didn't look hard enough haha. One of the sales assistants said that Essence is the no.1 selling brand in Europe which I was also shocked about as it's not a brand commonly seen around England.

I ended up going a bit mental and picked up a variety of different items to show you. This post is only going to be a haul post but I will be reviewing these items individually too. If there's something you really want a review of quickly I'll get to it, asap!

I tried to get a wide range of items however I didn't pick up any face things such as foundation, concealer or powder as I knew I probably wouldn't use them. I also did a tiny bit of research prior to buying these things to see what was best to pick up.

The post I read recommended the cream shadows and I was instantly drawn to these anyway in their resemblance to the Colour Tattoos.

The cream pots are called Eye Sorbets and I bought the shades Illuminating Plum and Illuminating Hazelnut. These were £2.79 each.

I also bought a Metal Glam Eyeshadow because I just thought it looked gorgeous and just couldn't resist (it totally matches my Gold Glitter Heels from DP too!). I have used glitter eyeshadow before from NYX and didn't rate it. Hopefully this will be better! They had lots of different shades too which I might buy more of if this one is good.

The shade I bought is called Hello Goldie and was £2.49.

Next I bought two blushes because I read that they were one of the best products from this range.

I bought a pressed powder blush in the shade Babydoll, this cost £2.49.

And after swatching this blush stick I thought it was really pretty and summery! This is in the shade Pretty in Pink and cost £2.49.

Now onto lip products I bought two lipsticks, one in Pink Treasure and the other in Flirty Pink. I've tried the brighter pink shade today and it was very similar to the MUA formula. Kinda more of a tint than a legit lipstick. Still nice though. These were £1.99 each (although I could have sworn the stand said they were 99p each...).

The matte lipgloss I thought was interesting, I bought the shade Smooth Berry and they had loads of colours but I bought this berry one thinking I'd be more likely to wear it. When I got it home I noticed it was pretty similar in colour to my NYX Soft Matte Lip Creme in San Paulo. This was £2.29.

Lastly,  I picked up this kit called How to make brows WOW. It was the most expensive thing from all the items I picked up at £5.99 but I think the packaging is really cute and you get some tools with it too.

As you can see, there's a blonde, light brown and dark brown shade. I'll definitely be writing a review on this soon as eyebrows are the main issue on my face and I need something that performs well. So I'll let you know where this fits in my estimation.

So that's everything I bought. I realised that the prices were pretty reasonable and the packaging of most items was nice but basic. Hopefully the products will perform well regardless of their cheapness though!

Again, let me know what you would like a review of first!

Take care,
Leanne x

Thoughts of the day!
  • Did my graduation nails today. Tried my hand at some nail art too. I managed to do zigzags pretty well with my right hand but when I had to use my left hand it all went wrong. Had to do dots on that hand instead haha.
  • My first teacher-y purchase arrived this morning, I bought 10 whiteboard pens from eBay for about £1.50! So Excite.
  • Hoping that it doesn't rain tomorrow for my graduation...
  • I am having cheeseburger and criss cross chips for dinner tonight! Can't wait, love a good cheeseburger.
  • Hector is currently sporting plasters on the feet of his two front legs. He's been digging and worn his nails all the way down and they looked all red and sore the poor little mite. So as funny as he looks he's now got plasters on. He doesn't like it but it's better than his little feet being sore :(
