Maybelline Colour Drama Lipstick in Minimalist

Hello everyone!

First of all, apologies for the photography. I haven't yet found a nice spot to take my pictures. The lighting is rubbish and, yeah... it's not brill. I'll get there in the end though.

Today, I'm reviewing one of the new Maybelline Colour Drama Lip Crayons in Minimalist. I also have In With Coral but I'll review that separately.

I've been wearing this shade a lot recently for work and I've been really enjoying it. It's a nude/pink colour and it's pretty much matte when it's dried. In the crayon it looks like it has shimmer but when it's on you can't see any shimmer.

This particular shade has quite a dry formula. I don't mind that at all as it helps the colour stay on my lips for longer however, if you have dry skin that might be something to consider. I do have the shade In With Coral and that one is very creamy in formula so I do think it varies across the line.

As I mentioned, this sticks around for a good few hours. I've also found that when the colour eventually fades it does so quite evenly so I don't find it necessary to top up if I don't get an opportunity to.

Only downfall that comes to mind is that you have to sharpen it. I know it sounds lazy but I'd love the product so much more if it was twistable. But you can't have it all, can you?

I'd definitely like to try more of the shades! Keep your eyes peeled for my review of In With Coral :)

Have you tried any of these Colour Drama lip crayons?
What do you think

Thoughts of the day
  • That's Monday over and done with for another week!
  • I applied for a different job within the school I work today. It utilises the skills I gained from university and it's a little more money too! Keep your fingers crossed for me :D
  • If you didn't see it already, the winner of my giveaway has been selected and I have sent the prize to her! Hopefully it arrives in one piece #nervous. I will definitely host another giveaway in the near future!
  • I gave Hector (my bearded dragon) a bath tonight in an actual, real bath. In the old house we just had a shower so I bathed him in a sink but today he got to swim about! He loved it!

OOTD: Weekly Work Wear | 21-26 Sept.

Hello everyone!

You can absolutely see the depletion of my old bedroom throughout these pictures. It's so sad :( I finally moved house yesterday, it was a sad state of affairs but it's done now. Hopefully that's the last of the shit 2014 has in store for me!

Moving on to a more positive note, here's this week's work wear! I only have four outfits to show you this week because I repeated one from last week. I also made a huge boohoo.com order but didn't get the pictures took in time - damn it! You'll probably see the dresses in random posts but I'm not sure that I'll get a haul post up.

Thoughts of the day
  • I missed both the X Factor and Gogglebox last night :(
  • Hector's got a mood on with me because he doesn't like change and there has been a lot of it over the last few days. The poor thing must wonder what's going on.
  • I'm bloody starving as I write this but the cooker we currently have must be from about the sixties and I have no idea how to work it. Woe is me.
  • One good thing about this house move is that I'm now only a ten minute walk from the school I work at :D
  • It smells very musty in here.

The End of an Era

Hello everyone!

Pre-warn... this is an emotional post for me.

I was clearing out my bedroom this past weekend and I found myself just staring out of the window for ages. It was a beautiful sunny afternoon and nothing pleases me more than watching the leaves change colour on the trees outside. I've lived in this house for over 12 years and the Autumn continues to stun me, year after year.

Unfortunately, this will be the last time I'll get to witness this happening right outside my window. On Friday, we're moving house, much to my delight (not) so I decided to take some pictures to remember it. When I looked back at them they were so beautiful that I couldn't not share them with you too. I've taken some spectacular pictures over the years of the place I live... when it snows it just looks like a postcard. If I find them I will have to write a post on them too.

Anyway, here are the pictures. I hope you enjoy them, appreciate their beauty and I hope it inspires you as much as it has me.

I remember when we first moved into the house and the neighbours behind us had two huge willow trees in their garden so, of course, I could only see around the sides. One year they had a tree cut down due to strong winds and a few years later they had the next tree cut down for the same reason. It was such a treat to watch what looked like a painting unravel in front of my eyes. Obviously since then I've seen it every day and got used to it however now my days of looking at it are numbered I appreciate it all over again.

As sad is it feels, knowing I may never get to live in a place that offers such a view every single time I look out of the window. I really hope that the next people enjoy it as much as I have.

It feels like absolutely nothing has changed out there in the past 12 years, but I bet if I had a picture from the first day and compared them... absolutely everything has.

Maybelline Crystallize Nail Polish in Rose Chic

Hello everyone!

I have a nail polish review for you today. Ooo, please contain your excitement! It's a Maybelline limited edition polish in the shade Rose Chic.

I originally bought it because I thought it was really pretty and I could tell it was going to be an opaque glitter rather than a top coat. However, since I've got it home I've realised that it's pretty similar to the Essie glitter polish in Beyond Cosy.

In the pictures the glitter looks like it's pink but when it's on your nails it's much more silver. Also, the Essie polish is just a little more sparkly. If you're not up for spending £8.00 on a nail polish though I would say this is a great alternative to Beyond Cosy. (See my review HERE).

This is definitely an opaque nail polish, you only need one or two coats for it to cover the nail. If you don't like textured polishes I'd recommend using a top coat too.

It's also quite a thick polish which I actually really enjoy. I've been wearing this for work this week and it hasn't chipped yet! Additionally, I noticed that it dried surprisingly quickly for a glitter polish, not immediately, but it only took ten minutes or so before I could function again as a human being. (wet nail polish is the worst)

I think this is a perfect seasonal polish and I'll continue to wear it all throughout the Autumn and Winter!

Have you tried any polishes from the Crystallize range?
Which is your favourite?

You can buy this polish online HERE for £3.99.

Thanks for reading!

Thoughts of the day
  • Received a boohoo.com order today consisting of a multitude of dresses which I want to show you. Hopefully I will get the opportunity to take some pictures before we move on Friday.
  • On that note, don't be surprised if the picture quality seriously goes down hill. Nowhere in the new house is decorated nicely so it's going to be add-hock for a while sadly. Hope you can forgive me!
  • About to eat a raspberry turnover from Sainsbury's - how delicious are they?
  • First official day of Autumn today and I think we can definitely tell. It's always freezing when I leave in the morning! We've definitely had the last of our summery days! Do you prefer winter or summer? I'm undecided.
  • I have defibrillator training at work tomorrow! Never thought I'd have the ability to use one of them! #clear

OOTD: Weekly Work Wear | 15-19 Sept.

Hello everyone!

You may remember this post from last week, sadly it's a little later this week but I've been ridiculously busy (more on that in the thoughts section) so this is the first chance I've had to sit and blog.

First of all, have you entered my Revolution Makeup Giveaway yet? If you haven't you can see it here. It ends on Sunday evening (28th) and it is international! Good Luck!

Now let's get on with the post! This is the same idea as last time, it's basically everything I've worn throughout the week for work. This week I managed to remember every morning so we have five outfits unlike last week's four. If you didn't see last week's you can click here.

Left-Right

Monday
Top: Primark
Pants: H&M

Tuesday
Dress: Boohoo.com
Cardigan: Primark

Wednesday
Dress: Boohoo.com
Cardigan: Primark

Left-Right

Thursday
Top: M&S
Pants: Primark (They're actually navy blue, not black)

Friday
Top: Primark
Pants: H&M

Hopefully I'll be able to get a few outfit pictures this coming week but I'll be repeating things soon so it won't be as interesting but where things look nice I will take pictures!

My makeup is pretty much the same day to day. I don't have much drive for experimentation at half past six in the morning :( Also, I've been wearing the same London Rebel dolly shoes everyday because all my other shoes are in storage, boo.

What kind of clothes do you wear for work? I don't think you can beat boohoo.com for good deals!

Hope you enjoyed reading this,

Thoughts of the day
  • Well guys I spent my weekend packing up the remainder of my bedroom :( We got our moving date which is the 26th Sept, on Friday. As I'm usually really tired after work I wanted to get it out of the way this weekend. I only have my bed, laptop, TV and some makeup and work clothes left :(
  • I'll probably have a post up this week with some pictures of the view outside my room. Sounds boring but it's a stunning view and I really haven't appreciated it as much as I should have over the years.
  • It has been spiders galore in my house recently. Not only have they been disturbed with us moving but it's September too; the month of the spiders. They all think they have the right to live in your house throughout the winter. Sponge off your central heating and live under the floor boards. Cheeky bastards. I hate spiders.
  • Lastly, I hope you're all well, sorry for the lack of posts but I have been exceptionally busy. Very un-leanne-like, I know. Hopefully I'll have some interesting DIY / Decorating / House moving posts for you in the near future!

Hello Everyone!

How are you all? Hope you've had a great week! I've been compiling some pictures this week for you  of my work wear. It's basically a collection of my outfits this week. Unfortunately I forgot on Monday so I only have four pictures but if you'd like this to become a weekly post I will do my best to remember better :D Let me know in the comments!

I have been pretty much wearing the same makeup everyday. Mostly because I know it works and I'm not up for the challenge of worrying about my makeup as well as keeping up with a new job at the moment. Over the next few weeks I'm sure I'll get more inventive.

On my face I have:

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder
ILAH Brow Powder
L'Oreal Super Liner in Black
Max Factor 2000 Calorie Mascara
Rimmel Blush
Maybelline Colour Drama Lip Crayon in Minimalist

Left:

Let me know if you liked this post and would like to see more! Sorry for the poor pics, I just quickly took them with my phone. I must clean that mirror.

See you next time,

Thoughts of the day
  • Another week in work complete! Pay day on Monday! Very excited :D
  • Finally get a night out tonight. I'm off to Manchester with some friends. Hope I don't have too bad of a hangover on Sunday, I hate wasting my days off.
  • I think these super moons and harvest moons we've been having recently are beautiful but the moon crosses the sky right through my window and it lights the whole room through the blinds. It's literally like someone close by has a light on. As a result I've not been sleeping well at all :( I need pitch blackness to sleep so it's not fun.
  • On a more positive note! Shopping today with the sister! Hoping to get some high waisted clack and white check pants... any ideas?

Pretty much a lipstick haul.... (And some other stuff)

Hello everyone!

Have you all had a good weekend? I went shopping on Saturday and spent today packing up my bedroom in to boxes :( The room looks much more spacious though.

On Saturday I picked up a few bits and pieces, I initially just wanted some pale pink/nude lipsticks for work but I saw a few other things I liked too. Still haven't bought the item I want to put in my giveaway because Superdrug didn't stock it but that will be coming soon guys!

There were lots of 3 for 2 deals on so I've pretty much bought multiple things from a few brands.

First of all I noticed that Barry M have released a few new nail colours. My sister is horrified by some of the shades I picked but I think something a little different will do me some good :D

I picked up Blue Grape, CHAI and Mustard. I actually can't wait to wear the Mustard colour... it's so unusual. I currently have Blue Grape on and I really like it.

These were £3.99 each but they were on 3 for 2.

Next, I finally bought Soap & Glory's One Heck Of A Blot. I've wanted it for a while but the price always put me off. I must have been feeling whimsical on Saturday as I did buy it. It was £12.00 so I really hope the product is worth it because so far I'm not impressed with the packaging as it seems really fragile and wobbly. Watch this space.

Next, Maybelline had a 3 for 2 deal on so I bought 2 of their new Colour Drama Lip Crayons in Minimalist and In With Coral. I love these, and can't wait to start wearing them. These are £4.99 each. I also bought one of their limited edition polishes in Rose Chic which was £3.99.

Sleek also had a buy one get one half price deal on so I picked up a lipstick in Baby Doll (£4.99) and a lip liner in Red Sky Night (£4.99) which, despite the colour, is actually a nice baby pink.

Last but not least is this Rimmel lipstick in shade 16. I've grown quite fond of these Kate Moss Lippies since I bought the red one, I can see me collecting quite a few more. This was £5.49 I think.

Swatches! (Left to Right)

Rimmel lipstick in shade 16
Sleek Baby Doll lipstick
Sleek Lip liner in Red Sky Night
Maybelline Colour Drama in Minimalist
Maybelline Colour Drama in In With Coral
Nails: Barry M Blue Grape

Have you picked up any good makeup deals lately?
I keep getting emails from ELF with 40% off codes.. I'm so tempted.

Thoughts of the day
  • Can't believe how quickly the weekend has gone :( It's Monday again tomorrow! I'm excited to get my permanent timetable at work though.
  • Speaking of work... I'm really really enjoying it. I was beyond nervous on Monday but once Wednesday was over I felt much more settled. Hoping this week is as successful!
  • Who's been watching the X Factor? I love the auditions it's my favourite stage of the competition! I'm so glad that Paul came back from last year! I couldn't believe Louis sent him home last year but hopefully he'll make it this year :D
  • If all goes well, I'll get a few more posts up next week. Didn't do very well this week but I suppose it being my first week at work is a good excuse? No? Yes? haha.
  • Anybody going to ThePointlessBlog book signing next Saturday at Waterstones in Manchester? My sister bought the book and we're going to get it signed next weekend! Let me know if you're going I'd love to say hi to you!

Pinch Punch!

Hello everyone!

Welcome to September! Where did the summer go? Where is 2014 going? I feel like January was last week.

It's Thursday and I actually wrote the sentence above on Monday. What a week I have had. I've been so tired and, well, overwhelmed. If you didn't already know, I started my new job this Monday as a Teaching Assistant in a secondary school, I'm really enjoying it and everyone I've worked with so far has been so lovely and welcoming. There's actually quite a lot of new staff so it's nice not to be the only one.

However, this has been the biggest shock ever to my system. Yesterday I was sooooo tired. I was in bed for 20 past 9 and I was definitely asleep by half past. I'm getting up at half 6 and I'm just not in a routine yet. I'm sure in a few weeks time I'll have adjusted to the new schedule but at the moment my head's boggled haha. It's not the longest day ever but you/re constantly doing something so it's very tiring.

Also, I'm moving house and it's looking to be within the next two weeks so everything is arse upwards when I get home too... it's a nightmare!! Sadly, this means the majority of my bedroom will be transported in to a storage container...including my makeup. BOO. Consequently, the posts I write on here won't be very varied, I'll only be able to review new products I buy or talk about the select few items I keep out. Having all my makeup in storage may reduce me to buying more though so it might not be too bad.....

So, I basically just wanted to give you all a brief update on my life. I haven't gone anywhere, just a bit busy getting sorted with work. I'm hoping to get some posts up this weekend and maybe do some pre-blogging.

Lastly, Hello to all my new followers! I hope you enjoy reading my posts! I'm currently organising a giveaway to celebrate being over 300 followers!! (GFC and Bloglovin' combined) WOO YEAH.

Thanks for reading,
