Loft Bathroom | Tour & Haul

The plan was to write a tour post and a separate haul for the new bathroom but it's taken me so long to sit down and write anything that I thought I'd combine the two. I think it's the fact that work has now begun on the downstairs bathroom that's given me the shove I needed to write this. We need a bathroom break for a few weeks....

The whole of the loft is finally finished. I might show you a few pictures of the landing and stairs now they're decorated but that will be in a different post. If you've been reading my blog for a while you'll have seen all the hard work that's gone into it from the start. If you haven't... it all began HERE. It seems very unreal.

If you'd like to see the bathroom work in progress you can HERE and HERE. I go into much more detail with regards to where everything is from and why I picked this, that and the other. I just really want you to enjoy the pictures in this post :)

My Dad is a firm believer in B&Q, therefore the majority of items are from there. However, I did save a lot of money on this project through eBay.

For example, the picture light above the mirror was from this seller and the tap from this seller. Taps are so expensive I couldn't believe the price of them but I would definitely recommend this cheaper alternative as it looks and works perfectly.

The mirror was £12 from B&Q (obviously the fixtures came separately for an additional £5. Why sell something without the bits you need to fit it to a wall!?!?). The sink is from the Nicolina range at B&Q and the work top is from a local store which sells odds and ends.

I bought a bath screen as a shower door which saved me hundreds. Made to measure doors are a joke. I used this seller and they were awesome.

The floor, tiles, toilet and shower were all from B&Q. If you want to know where something specific was from or you have any questions I will answer you in the comments!

Also, I'll quickly mention that we bought a Uniflo macerator for the disposal of waste which we were all dreading but so far (I've been using the bathroom about 2 months now) everything has been running smoothly. We bought the plumbers choice version and I have no reason to complain yet.

***

Now onto the haul! New bathroom calls for new everything and I throughly enjoyed kitting it out with fancy new towels and toothbrush holders... how sad am I?!

I held out for a bargain whilst looking for towels and it definitely payed off. I found these Collection towel bales in the Debenhams online sale for £15 each! They come with 2 face cloths, 2 hand towels and 2 bath towels.

I'm really disappointed that they are no longer on offer because I would definitely be placing another order for the downstairs bathroom... I'll have to wait it out. You can see them HERE and they have lots of colours to choose from.

This bath mat is from TKMaxx and it's mahoosive. It cost about £10 which is great for the size of it. I know that Primark have really nice bath mats for a fiver which I might pick up at some point for a bit of a change around.

I bought these accessories on one of my many trips to B&Q. I kind of wish I'd waited to have a look in TKMaxx first because they have some really posh looking dishes etc. But, I think the minimalist design of these matches my monochrome scheme well.

I have already bought bling-y tiles for the downstairs bathroom so I'll save the glitter for down there...

I bought this as a washing basket hoping it would fit inside the cupboard but unfortunately it's too wide so it's now sat on my landing with no purpose except to look interesting. It matches the colour scheme better out there anyway.

Must have been feeling a bit Pinterest when I picked up this little terrarium from TKMaxx. It cost about £7 and I bought the cactae in the picture below to live in it. Still haven't got around to putting it in there. I have these mad ideas then never get around to doing them!

Finally this vase was on sale in ...yep... B&Q for about £3 and I just can't resist something this colour for that price so it sits proudly collecting dust on the shelf above my loo.

And that's everything. I feel out of breath from writing this post; it's been a long one.

I hope you enjoyed reading and looking at some pictures.
Let me know if you want to see the landing and stairs!

If you have any questions or comments, leave them below and I'll get back to you!

See you next time,

P.S. I was keeping tabs on my phone and the grand total for this project was £1, 377. That includes everything from insulation and plasterboard to the soap dish. I'm aiming to half that on the downstairs bathroom because, let's face it, we don't have to build the room first.

A Milani Experience

What a sick joke this weather is. If you're a fellow Mancunian you'll know as well as I do how shit it's been over the last week. I can't cope with all this rain in July! I've bought shorts, strappy tops and sparkly flip flops and I can wear none of it! I even put my heater on for an hour the other night... that's what I'm dealing with.

Something I can wear though regardless of the weather is all this new Milani makeup I found on Amazon. It's bright, it's pink, it's pigmented and it's my little piece of summer.

I'm not American, I have no American friends and I haven't visited America in about 8 years so I've never tried anything from Milani before but one of my favourite YouTubers, EmilyNoel83, is always showing off bits and pieces.

I discovered that Amazon carried a few bits from the line and the prices were very reasonable so I placed an order and today I'm showing you what I bought :) Swatches and all.

I looked at swatches on Google to see what I liked the most and picked these three baked blushes.

Delizioso Pink - £4.49
Luminoso - £4.49
Bella Rosa - £4.49

All four are extremely pigmented you literally only have to tap your brush on the top to get plenty of product on your brush. My favourite is Delizioso Pink, it's a Barbie pink colour with a blue tone running through it in certain lights. It's so pretty.

Luminoso is nice but surprisingly orange toned when swatched. Blended out it's probably a lot different but it wasn't what I expected from the pictures I'd seen online. I think this will make a lovely golden highlight which makes a change to the frosty, cool-toned highlighters I usually go for.

Bella Rosa was a colour I picked up out of pure curiosity. There were plenty of rave reviews about how pigmented it is, how gorgeous the colour is and I just thought I'd try it. It's very beautiful but I think I'll struggle with it on my skin tone; too much product and I'll be verging on clown territory.

Not only is the pigmentation great, they are so soft to touch, not in the slightest bit chalky and they are very bendable on the skin. Definitely worth the money... even if you don't try anything else make sure you give these a go!

Next I picked up a Rose Powder Blush in Lady Rouge. This cost £5.99 and I'm not gonna lie... I bought it because it looks stunning.  Out of the colours I found on Google my favourite was Tea Rose but that blush wasn't available on prime delivery. Kinda wish I'd saved my money where this one's concerned though due to it's similarity to Bella Rosa; it's just slightly more orange toned. However, it's a nice one to just stare at....

Lastly with regards to the cheeks is this Illuminating Face Powder in Beauty's Touch. This was also £5.99 and I couldn't swatch it for you because I couldn't bear to put my fingers in the perfect powder. I did wear it as a highlight on a night out though and it was g-o-r-geous.

Swatches (L-R): Lady Rouge, Delizioso Pink, Luminoso, Bella Rosa

Finally I bought 3 Lip Intense Liquid Colours, which were £4.39 each, in the shades:

Pink Rave
Violet Addict
Fiery Coral

They are very intense colours, all of which have great pigmentation and I think I'll definitely buy more of these in the future... perhaps a red. My favourite is Fiery Coral because it's so bright but I wore Violet Addict a few nights ago and I loved that too.

So far, I'm really impressed with Milani and I wish we had the full range of makeup in the UK because I would definitely be a frequent customer. It's just unfortunate that Amazon don't carry a lot of their products. Everything I have tried so far has been really affordable, had great colour pay off and has arrived in the most beautiful packaging.

Thank you Milani for making such gorgeous makeup :)

Have you tried anything from Milani?
What would you recommend?

Thanks for reading,

Eyelash Novice

I'm trying false eyelashes. I made an executive decision with myself that I'm at a point in life where I need to up my eyelash game. So I watched EmilyNoel's Eyelashes 101 video (because she has eyelash goals) to get some brand ideas then I took myself over to Amazon and today I'm going to show you what I picked up.

According to the video, Revlon's adhesive is the best one but I don't think Boots carries it and I couldn't find it anywhere else either. On Amazon it was £5.12 LINK, I'm not really sure if that's cheap or expensive for lash glue because I am a novice but as long as they don't fall off I'm happy.

On recommendation from Emily's video I bought some Beyond Natural lashes, also from Revlon. They were £4.47 LINK and definitely look like the easiest pair to deal with. I think I'll try these ones first.

Next, are the Natural Ardell lashes which cost £4.70 LINK. These ones have a bit more length and volume compared with the revlon ones but they still look quite fine and natural.

Lastly, I bought the Eylure 107 Volume lashes LINK which cost £5.25. They are very thick and will add lots of definition to an eye look. I'll save these for a day when I really mean business!

I'm going to try and wear either the Revlon or Ardell pair this Friday for a night out with work so wish me luck! I'm going to have to allocate myself extra getting-ready-time to apply them. Any additional tips are very welcome!

See you next time,
