Revlon Ultra HD Lipsticks

It's been a while since I've written a makeup review. There have been a lot of hauls and lifestyle posts but we've been seriously lacking in the makeup department. Actually, I've been feeling a bit meh about buying makeup over the last few months, frequently I've wandered the isles of Boots and found absolutely nothing that I want to buy. I go through phases like this were I'll buy loads of makeup then get bored and buy clothes instead. I'm definitely on a fashion mission at the moment.

Having said that, I did pick up 3 of the Revlon Ultra HD lipsticks when they were on 3 for 2 in Boots a while ago.

I bought three shades, Hydrangea which is a bright, pinky coral colour. I really love this shade as it's a coral that doesn't have orange tones... my face does not do orange toned anything. Secondly I have Orchid which is like a muted hot pink colour and reminds me a lot of the Flamboyante Matte Balm; just a shiny version. Finally, I have Petunia which will be so nice for Autumn, it's a rich red toned berry colour and is probably my favourite formula of the three I have as it's very, very smooth.

Overall, these lipsticks have an extremely creamy formula. Some of them, for example Petunia, have a smoother texture but on the whole they are comfortable to wear and apply. I love the opacity of the colours, it only takes one application to achieve a full colour look. In comparison to most of the matte lipsticks I wear these don't cling to the dry parts of your lips, they just kind of smooth over everything... it's really lovely.

In my experience, as they are quite thick, they do have the tendency to wear away quickly. However, the colours stain so even when you don't have that moisturising texture anymore, the colour is still quite prominent.

With regards to application, I know that a lot of revlon lipsticks are cut kinda flat but I do with they'd cut them to a point because you just can't apply them with precision, especially around the Cupid's bow. That's the only downfall for me on Revlon lipsticks, otherwise I can't fault them whatsoever. You could pull in a lip brush but who carries one of them around throughout the day for touch ups? Not me.

They tastes like something I could eat. I know you shouldn't be tasting lipsticks but as I was trying them on and getting it off my teeth etc. I just managed to. Somehow. They're very sweet and vanillary and smell remarkably similar to Ikea candles.

I would definitely recommend these lipsticks and next time revlon have an offer on I think I might pick up some more. I'd like to try a light pink colour next.

  1. My favourite is Petunia. I haven't tried any but, 2 for £10 you can't really say no. I also can't help but taste lip products, I hate the ones that dry out the back of my throat.
