L'Oreal Paris Miss Manga Mascara

Hello everyone!

L'Oreal Mega Volume Miss Manga Mascara, that's what I have for you today. I bought this a few weeks ago, you can see it in THIS huge haul post, along with the new MaxFactor mascara which I haven't opened yet. I thought it was about time I told you what I think about this mascara after using it for a good few weeks now!

I have it in the shade black. I think there's three colours, another one is purple but I'm not sure of the third. I played it safe with the black. I kind of have mixed views on this mascara, there are pros and cons.

First of all, the wand is the most annoying thing ever. It's advertised as a '360 wand' or something along them lines but all they've done is make it really flimsy. I apply liquid eyeliner before my mascara and sometimes I accidentally get the liner on my lashes so I need a sturdy wand to brush through my lashes. This really doesn't do that, it bends everywhere and just doesn't get a good grip on your lashes. The wand itself is a bit tricky to use too, I don't know what they were trying to achieve here, the bristles are thick and they're distributed in clumps. It's really difficult to separate your lashes and stop them from sticking together.

As a result of the wobbly wand and dodgy bristles, it's super easy to get this mascara all over your eyes, nose, eyebrows, places where mascara shouldn't be.

Now after I've totally slated the wand, when you get used to working with this mascara and work out how to apply it best for you, it actually creates really nice, thick lashes with lots of volume. I'm not saying it's easy to apply but as the saying goes, no pain no gain!

I find that twising the brush as you apply it helps to separate the lashes and instead of going for one thick coat I apply two thin coats to build up the lashes and that tends to work okay for me. You just have to be really precise to not get it all over your face.

I like the formula of this mascara, it's a really deep black colour and the texture is quite thick. Again, thick formulas make for messy lashes sometimes but, like I said, if you're careful it's fine. It says on the Boots website that the formula has 'enlarging collagen spheres' in it. I'm not going to lie, I don't know exactly what that means. All I can assume is that it has little pieces of something in it to make your lashes appear thicker. I actually have a mascara kit that comes with them fibres in a seperate tube to create the look of false lashes. The Manga mascara doesn't make your lashes look false and in my opinion, they don't look any more volumous than if I was wearing one of my favourite volume mascaras such as MaxFactor's False Lash Effect or 2000 Calorie Mascara. What I will say though is that this mascara is a devil to remove! If you get it in your eyes, it stings like hell. It's pretty stubborn so be aware of that.

Overall, I think this is a nice mascara, I just wish they'd kept the wand normal, you don't benefit at all from a flimsy wand in my opinion. Other than that, I like it, I like the look you can achieve with it and I'll definitely continue to use it until it's all gone. I don't think I'd buy this one again because I think there's better mascaras out there for volume. I'm actually really intrigued by the purple version of this mascara though, I kind of wish I'd picked that up at the promotion price too, you don't really see purple mascaras anymore but maybe there's a reason for that... haha. Let me know if you've tried the purple one!

Price - £8.99

What do you think of this mascara?
Have you had any luck with it?

    1. Thank you! Yeah it's worth a try, it's a pretty good price and it works well if you're used to working with difficult mascaras :)

  2. Great review! But it's a shame about the wand, I personally prefer hard bristles bc the soft flimsy ones always makes the application clumpy. I think I'll just stick to my Maybelline mascara for now!
