Makeup Revolution Haul!!

Hello everyone!

This is very exciting for me, I finally found Revolution London makeup in Superdrug! Woo! I had already looked in the Manchester Superdrugs but it wasn't there yet, then I went to Stockport with my sister yesterday and their Superdrug had the brand!

The stand was pretty well stocked up so it was either new or people just haven't clocked on in Stockport what a big deal it is.

I did pick up a few bits and pieces, some I already had in mind and others I just saw and liked. They didn't have any testers out at the time so I just had to kind of ... guess.

Anyway, this is what I picked up:

I bought two face products. I wasn't going to because I really have a feeling they aren't going to be good on me but for the purposes of this blog (and the fact I've read so many positive reviews) I decided to give it a go.

I bought The Matte Effect foundation in Cool Ivory (£2.00) and I bought the Focus and Fix concealer in Light (£2.00).

Since getting these items home I have realised that they are totally the wrong shades for me. I will still try them though for review purposes... just not out of the house haha.

I bought one of the three highlighters available. This one is called Peach Lights (£3.00) and it looked like the most wearable shade, to me. There was a pink one and a white one too.

I've swatched this and it's gorgeous I'm so looking forward to using it and reviewing it.

One thing I'm really impressed with so far is the packaging. They feel like expensive products. Especially these compacts, even more so than the palettes. I thought the clear plastic part was flat but that's actually domed too, like the product. Definitely feels like it's worth more than £3.00 anyway.

I bought the medium bronzer compact in Golden Days (£4.00), I think there were three. I'm going to have to really work with this throughout the rest of summer to find how it works for me. I'm not a bronzer wearer really.

This is definitely shimmery so probably not best for contouring but for an all over glow I think it will be lovely.

I actually dropped one of these in the shop and it smashed everywhere. I've never done that before and it was pretty embarrassing and my sister ran off. They didn't make me pay for it though which I thought was kind :D

Swatches: Highlighter (top) Bronzer (bottom).

I picked up the Iconic 3 palette (£4.00) and I knew I wanted this because it's supposed to be a dupe for the Naked 3. I don't have the Naked 3 and I doubt I'll be buying it, however this allows me to at least get a taste of what it's like.

The next thing I bought which I knew I wanted is this Blush and Contour palette (£6.00). I bought the shade Sugar and Spice which is full of pinks and there was also a more peachy one too.

The colours in this are so pretty and I'm glad I bought the peach highlight because this palette comes with pink and white highlights anyway.

The quality of the packaging it really great, it feels nice and sturdy and it comes with a large mirror too.

Last but not least is this eyeshadow palette. I am an eyeshadow fiend. I buy loads of it but hardly ever actually use it. This is just so pretty though.

I have the Run Boy Run palette (£6.00) but there was about 3 or 4 which I'd have liked to buy.

I picked this one because, well, it's wearable. I wanted to buy the crazy neon ones but to begin with I thought playing safe was best.

I'm really looking forward to trying that burnt orange shade which stands out. Also, don't be fooled by my photography, the colours are a lot more vibrant in reality.

You get 12 shimmery shades and 6 mattes which is a nice combination I think.

So that's everything I picked up from Revolution. I can definitely see me buying more things in the future. I had my eyes on the eyebrow kit and I'd really like to try one of the neon palettes. I'm surprised that I didn't pick up any lip products too but I probably will do in the future.

After seeing the quality of the Revolution makeup I fear that MUA will lose some serious business because from what I've seen up to now (opinions may change) Revolution are head and shoulders better than other affordable beauty brands.
Also, here's a montage of the Revolution shopping thanks to my sisters sneaky picture taking. Look at the concentration on that face! hahaha

Have you tried anything from Revolution?
What are your thoughts?

Thanks for reading,

Thoughts of the day!
  • Almost never got this post up. Blogger has been down all day which has bugged the life out of me as I wanted to get a few posts written.
  • As a result, I have literally done nothing productive today.
  • I am going to use a toner on my hair tonight to re-vamp my blonde a bit. It needs colouring again really but I'm trying to wait a bit longer for starting work. I'm using the Colour Restore Iced Platinum which I used to love when I had ombre hair.
  • Possible zoo trip tomorrow...
